A while ago, numerous websites picked up on a quote made by a Sony exec and re-formulated it to state that 'Home is not a priority'. But the actual comment was made in specific reference to making money from the service financially. But we're sure that part will come in the future too!

Last week it Edge reported Sony's Peter Edwards as stating that, "It’s not a priority right now but there is a business model there", with regards to PlayStation Home. We reported on the report.

Shortly after, a poster called B told our Forum: "I've seen many things misreported from the LGC panel talk, but I think this is going too far now. I was there, so I know exactly what the guy was saying.

"He was talking in regards to making money in Home. He said that making money is not their priority for Home, that they are making some - that there is a business model, but that's not what they're trying to do. They're trying to build a community."

New reports denote that Xbox 360 owners may find themselves being forced out of using the party chat option as MS is offering developers the ability to negate the private chat option of the Xbox 360.

Do you like to use the party chat option on your Xbox 360? Well, if you do, you may soon find yourself being forced out of using that option. Microsoft appears to be offering developers the option to negate the private chat option the Xbox 360 offers. Currently, players have the option of forming a private chat with players, but that will soon change.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will force players to decide whether or not they’ll play the game and join the game chat, or choose to stay in a private chat and not play in the multiplayer game. With titles like Gears of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, and many other online based multiplayer titles, the private chat feature became a way of telling other players of enemy locations after...

Following on from our leaked specs that indicated that the next Wii would be Blu-ray equipped, we have news that Nintendo has reportedly mentioned again that the next Wii will indeed support high definition.

One of the recaps is from today's Nikkei Industrial Daily, which has an article about last week's Nintendo earnings report. During the briefing, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata apparently touched upon the specifications of Nintendo's next generation console, indicating that the console would likely make use of HD visuals.

Yes, I'm aware this is all extremely vague. What you're reading here is a summary of a summary of what was probably a vaguely written article in the first place. If I manage to get my hands on the paper, I'll post a more detailed summary. Alternatively, it's possible that the Nikkei article sourced the Q&A section of the briefing, which Nintendo will likely post in full to its official site some time this week.

Wii weirdness has just hit a new level! 505 Game's Baby and Me product requires you to strap in your Wii remote into the toy baby. The advantage of this is that you can see some on-screen rocking of the baby in tandem with your Wii remote movements.

Making-of DVD? Download code for an exclusive shield to block projectile vomit? No, no. 505 Games' upcoming Wii-exclusive Baby and Me takes the whole special edition thing to a whole new level - it comes with a creepy doll.

Better yet, you're supposed to strap your Wii Remote to it for a stunning display of just how far humanity has come. By rocking the disturbing creature in your arms, you'll also be rocking an on-screen baby in Baby and Me. That's intense. But just check out all the other features!

Ratchet and Clank developer has written a fairly lengthy report on the lack of value that 60fps support provides on the latest games. A deep report found that higher framerates do not increase the sales of the game, nor to they significantly affect the reviews.

However, during development, there are hard choices to be made between higher quality graphics and framerate. And we want to make the right choices that reflect our commitment to providing you with the best looking games out there. To that end, our community team did some research into the question of framerate. The results perhaps confirmed what I’ve known for a long time, but found it difficult to accept without evidence. They found that:

•A higher framerate does not significantly affect sales of a game.

•A higher framerate does not significantly affect the reviews of a game.

Microsoft has confirmed to IGN that it is performing a new wave of Xbox LIVE bans. MS noted it has taken action against a 'small percentage' of modified consoles in line with their policies.

Wake up this morning only to find your Xbox Live account has been banned? That's probably because you had a modded console and were playing illegal, pirated copies of games.

"We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN. "In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox LIVE."

Product description :
Bring your old controller back to life. This first aid kit fixes two basic problems. Fix the problem with "dead buttons" by replacing the rubber pads that the buttons rest on. After several years of heavy gaming, these pads can wear out and not provide the "spring" back that they onces did. Replacing the rubber mats is easy and requires on the most basic skill.

This kit also includes replacement thumbsticks assembly. This includes the mechanism for the thumbsticks plus the potentiometers that work with the mechanism. Repalcing the thumbstick mechanisms requires intermediate soldering skills.

According to reports, the total worldwide installed base of the PS3 currently stands at about 27 million. By comparison, the Xbox 360 has sold 31 million units but this amount was confirmed a month before the PS3's total.

With Sony's financials out in the wild, we've got the latest total for the PS3's worldwide install base.

That total is 27 million as of September 30th. In comparison, 31 million Xbox 360s had been sold worldwide by August 27th and at the end of September there were 56.14 million Wiis around the world.

Unsurprisingly, PS3 sales nearly tripled from this year's first quarter (ending June 30th) to the second (ending September 30th), going from 1.1 million to 3.2 million thanks to the price cut and launch of the Slim.

Sony has posted a smaller than expected quarterly loss. While the recorded loss less stands at $289 million, it could've been much worse had it not been for the healthy sales of the PS3 and Michael Jackson license.

Sony reported a smaller-than-expected 26.3 billion yen ($289 million) quarterly loss as cost cuts combined with healthy sales of PlayStation 3 game consoles and Michael Jackson hits helped it inch toward recovery.

The Japanese electronics and entertainment giant has been battered by the global slowdown, sliding prices of gadgets and its failure to produce new blockbuster consumer products. But Tokyo-based Sony Corp. said Friday it now expects a smaller flow of red ink for the full fiscal year through March 2010.

It's forecasting a 95 billion yen ($1 billion) loss compared with the initial projection for a 120 billion yen ($1.3 billion) loss. The new forecast is marginally better than the 98.9 billion yen loss it suffered the previous fiscal...

Nintendo has revealed that it 'failed' with the Wii on a variety of levels. Firstly, they couldn't continually release strong levels of software and implied that a price drop come at a too late time. Although the price drop has seen some momentum returing to them.

“We failed with the Wii. We were unable to continually release strong software, and let the nice mood cool. We were unable to show a new game to become ‘the next thing.’ In the game market, once you’ve lost the momentum, it takes time to recover. With the price drop, sales returned to a certain level, but they just did not reach the level of last year around this time. We decided that it would be difficult to sell enough to recover from the poor performance of the first half of the year. In order to reach it (20 million target), we’ll have to move quite a large quantity, but it’s a figure we released after having felt the momentum returning [based off the price drop].â€

Xbox LIVE Europe general manager Jerry Johnson said that the console's exclusive games "prove the point that this is still very much at its heart a gaming console", despite strong moves to broaden the 360's appeal.

He said: "I'll come back and say that Xbox has the best games out there. It's got the best first-person shooter games out there. The exclusives we've had over the past years and what we had going into this holiday prove the point that this is still very much at its heart a gaming console.
