Shock horror. MS actually saying something nice about the PS3? Yep. According Robbie Bach both Sony's system and the Xbox 360 have plenty of power to show, but Nintendo's Wii certainly has nothing left in the tank.

<blockquote>"I think in many ways we’re still on the upside of the console lifecycle. Historically, the content cycle has been driven by graphic technology. There’s still plenty of power available in the Xbox 360, there’s still plenty of power available in the [Sony] PlayStation 3. Nintendo probably can’t say that. They may have a capacity and a power problem on the graphics side that they need to deal with. But when I look at the [overall] cycle, I think there’s still plenty of upside given what we have today."</blockquote>

BIG claims from MS here. Aaron Greenberg seems to think that their motion free Natal technology will sell MILLIONS of units the future holiday period. BIG numbers...

<blockquote>Discussing specifics of the company's forthcoming Project Natal, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg told Joystiq, "We think that there will be millions of Natals in consumer's homes this holiday." To put that number into context, Microsoft sold 2.3m Xbox 360 consoles and Nintendo sold 1.7m copies of Wii Fit with bundled Balance Board in the US during the months of November and December, 2008.</blockquote>

Even the heavily marketed Bayonetta could not so much as wound Modern Warfare 2. The latest UK charts reveal Modern Warfare 2 is still number one, while Wii Fit Plus and Just Dance make up the top 3. Elsewhere, Wii Sports Resort and Bayonetta complete the fabulous five.

Analyst Michael Pacther believes that Wii publishers need to limit their ouput of games and instead focus on higher quality. He noted that there is just too much Wii 'shovelware' around such as the cheap games nobody wants in the bargain bins.

<blockquote>"Wii publishers need to concentrate on fewer games but games of higher quality," he says. "There is just too much shovelware around -- like the $15 games in the end-cap bargain bins at Target. Companies like Majesco just spin them out non-stop and there are tons of them. They aren't helping anybody keep their lights on." </blockquote>

Interesting stuff, Uncharted 2 look absolutely stunning on the PS3 but Sony are confident that Heavy Rain will make it look like a distant memory. According to the mighty S, Heavy Rain will graphically 'blow Uncharted 2 away'.

<blockquote>Heavy Rain was sharing space with God of War III at CES 2010 and both games looked really good graphically. One Sony representative instructing the demo for Heavy Rain gave a pretty bold statement that challenges Uncharted 2 for best looking game of all time.

Another reporter and I were talking to the representative about how he would categorize Heavy Rain since it appeared to be a more passive experience. When Uncharted 2’s action oriented gameplay and graphics came up, the representative said, “Graphically, it [Heavy Rain] blows Uncharted 2 away.â€</blockquote>

OK we understand its just an online beta, but it's not doing any favors for MAG on the PS3. The beta plain sucks and even if it is a pale shadow of the final game, we can't imagine it to be much better. It feels slow, clunky, un-involving and quite frankly Modern Warfare 2 wipes the floor with it. What do you think?

According to reports at ESPN, there is reson to believe that EA are set to announce a new Wii game dubbed NFL trailer. Essentially the game will revolve around players engaging in football syle workouts.

<blockquote>There's a rumor floating around that EA Sports may soon announce a Wii Fit-inspired video game dubbed "NFL Trainer," in which -- you guessed it -- players engage in football-themed exercises and workouts, possibly with the help of a football-shaped Wii remote attachment.

Will the game be authentic? Probably as much as the "Madden" games. Will it live up to EA's "It's in the game" motto? Only if the software maker takes our advice and includes the following features:</blockquote>

While the Wii has been highly admired by the casual markets, Microsoft has gone on record to state that their project Natal technology will actually be the subject of much love from HARDCORE gamers. Apparently, 70 percent of publishers out there are developing for Natal at the moment.

<blockquote>"Take your hardcore gamer, they're going to love Natal,"Bach explained. "Now, they'll play a different style of game on that when they're doing it. When they play Halo: Reach, they might be back with their controller doing some very, you know, targeted things. But the style of game they will play will be different."

"But they will absolutely love Natal," he added.

Bach also stated that 70 percent of the publishers are now developing titles for Project Natal. The company revealed a modest listed of Natal developers during this past Tokyo Game Show. The list included names such as Bethesda, Capcom, Konami, and Ubisoft. </blockquote>

According to reports, MS has dropped the hardware chip in Natal responsible for processing information to the 'bone system' and has instead opted for a software solution. The move has been made to cut down costs of the device.

<blockquote>Microsoft has dropped a chip from its forthcoming Natal motion control system as the platform holder eyes accessible price points in the build-up to release later this year.

The chip, which was responsible for processing information for the Natal's 'bone system,' has been removed in favour of a software solution. </blockquote>

Microsoft has revealed that Xbox LIVE and Windows are to be graced with the 'Game Room'. This essentially looks and functions like the little arcade bit of Playstation Home in which you can play a variety of casual games.

<blockquote>
It's due out this year for Xbox Live and Games for Windows. As far as we can see from the video below, it looks just a tiny bit like the arcade in PlayStation Home where you go and queue for a game of pool or bowls or to play arcade games.

Here's what Robbie Bach has to say about it, "There's a generation of people who grew up with a set of games like Centipede. They look almost like casual, fun games today. At the time they were high-end, edgy games. Game Room is the idea of bringing that back to the market and bringing it to a very broad audience."</blockquote>

According to ratings by Nielsen, the Xbox 360 is the most used console. However, surprisingly, the PS2 beat the Wii into second place by over 1 percent.

<blockquote>The Xbox 360 topped Nielsen's top US game consoles ranked by usage minutes (23.1%), polling slightly ahead of Sony's PS2 (20.4%) and the Nintendo Wii (19.0%). No, that's not a typo. I meant to write PlayStation 2. Sony's PS3? Not on the fact sheet, which either means Nielsen didn't want to embarrass Sony, or they've done the rest of us a disservice by failing to include Sony's flagship game and Blu-ray box in their breakout.</blockquote>

According to reports, sources in UK retail and marketing have let slip that Halo: Reach is due to become available on September 24th. Along with the 'slip', placeholder box art has also been released.

<blockquote>Previously slated for “fall 2010â€, it was expected that Halo: Reach would follow-suit with it’s Xbox 360 predecessors, with a release date leaving plenty of room prior to the busy Christmas period. However, just how close the game is set to fall in-line is likely to come as a surprise to many. Halo 3 arrived in Europe on September 26th 2007, while Halo 3: ODST launched on September 22nd 2009, and now, Halo: Reach is set to arrive on September 24th 2010, sources in UK retail and marketing have today revealed. A placeholder box art has also been released (as seen on this very page), but official artwork remains to be forthcoming.</blockquote>
