IGN has reviewed New Super Mario Bros. Wii and while they really like it and state you should buy it, they also note the game is weakened by a number of factors including a lack of innovation and online play. Overall it scored an 8.9.

I really, really like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I have no qualms with saying this is a far better game than the Nintendo DS version, and it could easily be the finest Super Mario Bros. 2D platformer Nintendo's ever created. You should absolutely get a copy, no question.

But, and it's a big "but," Nintendo did not use this opportunity wisely. For as big a project as this could have been, this game's impact is weakened by many factors. It plays it safe with established gameplay with very little in the way of new innovation. It also lacks online multiplayer in a generation where such a feature is expected.

I had a great time plowing through all eight worlds (and then some), but the nagging feeling of it seeming like a step...

Microsoft has commented that it is unapologetic about banning modified consoles from Xbox LIVE. Prior to that, MS noted that stamping out piracy on their system is a key issue not just for the Xbox but the industry as a whole.

"If it's clear someone is downloading pirated copies or have modified their Xbox in some way that will allow them to download games that they haven't purchased legitimately and yes we lock that account down and we're unapologetic about that," he said.

His comments came after parent company Microsoft blocked the consoles because their owners had modified the equipment to play games they had not paid for.

According to reports, Nintendo is planning to publish its first ever M rated game in Japan. And the honour of this event goes to Zaneki Reginleiv with Sandlot being the actual developer of the game.

Nintendo published a few M rated games like Geist and Eternal Darkness overseas, but not in Japan. Over there Nintendo went up to CERO C (that’s a 15+ game) and those games – Fatal Frame IV and Disaster: Day of Crisis only started shipping in 2008.

Next year, Nintendo will go a step forward with their first CERO D (ESRB M equivalent game) in Japan. It’s called Zangeki Reginleiv, previously announced as Dynamic Zan at a Nintendo press conference. Sandlot, the team behind the Earth Defense Force series, is the developer.

The Xbox forums is full of complaints by Xbox 360 owners who claim that their system has never been modified yet has been BANNED from LIVE. One of the stand out complaints is a father who questions why MS has banned the 360 of his 4 year old kid when the console has never been modified.

M 4 year old son's console has never been modded and only plays original games. We bought the console brand new back in 2007. This is a load of crap. Microsoft needs to pull their head out of their butt and re-evaluate their current bans because there are several hundred consoles that are not modded being banned. WHY WOULD YOU BAN A 4 YEAR OLD KIDS CONSOLE ANYWAYS? HE DID NOTHING WRONG! HIM AND I ALWAYS PLAY TOGETHER. WE WENT TO PLAY HALO 3 ON LIVE SATURDAY MORNING AND AS SOON AS WE TURNED ON THE CONSOLE IT SAID WE WERE BANNED.

Major Nelson has confirmed that LIVE hit a new record earlier on as Modern Warfare 2 drove XBOX LIVE to have OVER two million gamers connected to the service all at once!

Today, Xbox Live had a record breaking day. Two million people were connected to Xbox Live service at one time today. I’m sure a lot of those people were playing Modern Warfare 2, but that is still impressive. Imagine cramming all two million of those people into a small room to play Xbox?

The announcement was made by Major Nelson through a tweet

We just hit a new #XboxLIVE record: Over TWO MILLION people connected to the service at once.

Congrats to the guys at MS for that achievement. Let me turn on my xbox to add to those 2 million.

The developers behind Gran Turismo 5 have indicated that it is very possible that motor bikes will come to Gran Turismo 5. They donted that if it is what users really want in the game, then it is a possibility.

Have plans been finalized for whether motorcycles will be featured in Gran Turismo 5?

If that's what users really want in the game, I think that's a possibility. Or we could consider making a Tourist Trophy 2 as well.

Microsoft has confirmed that they will have/will ban anywhere from 600,000 to 1 million Xbox 360 owners from LIVE should their systems be illegally modified. MS noted that modifying an Xbox 360 violates their terms of use and will result in a LIVE ban.

Anywhere between an estimated 600,000 and 1 million players who use Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming service will be cut off from the service because they have modified their game consoles or played games that were illegally downloaded from file-sharing sites, according to the company.

"All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live," Microsoft said in a statement Wednesday.

Microsoft has revealed that they will not reveal bans about how they go about banning modified Xbox 360's but denoted all that consoles that have been banned have been verified to violat their terms of use. The issue of bans is becoming mainstream news right about now due to the sheer volume of them.

Microsoft has not said how it was able to determine which gamers to disconnect.

"We do not reveal specifics, but can say that all consoles have been verified to have violated the terms of use," the firm said in a statement.

Reports suggest that the ban does not stop the console from working and only affects a gamer's Xbox Live account.

Industry figures suggest that piracy may cost the video game industry as much as £750m a year.

According to unconfirmed reports, MS has banned approximately 600,000 Xbox 360's in their latest wave of bans. Apparently MS are aiming to ban 1 million modified Xbox 360's by the time Christmas is over. Seems like a Merry Christmas!

A conversation with a friend who works for a call center that handles an Xbox 360 account has yielded a disturbing truth: Microsoft has started its annual Xbox Live banning spree and it has disabled 600,000 accounts so far in the US and Canada.

The target of the banning spree are mainly people who have modified their consoles to play pirated games. My trusty source says that they have been given instructions to push for a million banned accounts by the time the holidays are over.

Modern Warfare 2 certainly hasn't disappointed as it has a meta-critic score of 96. A number of reviews have awarded the title 100 percent while some have gone for the mid-low 90 range claiming that the title does little to redefine things rather builds on what was previously done.

As you may know, MS has started a new wave of 360 bans and this has angered many pirates. So much so that the pirates actually made threatening calls to the director of Xbox Live's policy enforcement. Resultingly, the respective individual (Stephen Toulouse) stepped into an IRC channel where the problem seemed to start from and pleaded that the threatening calls to him and his family should stop.

You can read the full transcript over at Burn360.net. And it definitely looks like this is legitimate because Stephen Toulouse' Twitter contains the word 'cheesecake' as he was asked to post this on his page as proof it really is him.
