Sony's John Koller has revealed that Sony still has the PS2 firmly in its plans. Despite the system being around the block from quite some time, Sony is looking to push the fact that the PS2 has so many games in comaprison to the Wii.

Yes, we have a very firm stance, and we're going to continue to support the PlayStation 2 wholeheartedly. The PS2 obviously had a price drop this year, which gets forgotten because of the PS3 noise, but it's still selling exceedingly well. It's a new demographic, a consumer that's maybe a "last gamer" or a consumer that's new to gaming. With this economy, coming in at $99, a lot of these consumers are choosing between a PlayStation 2 and a Wii, and you're looking at a PS2, which is $99 and carries 2000 games.

Personally we think Sony should just give up with this Playstation Home idea and devote their efforts elsewhere. However, today they have announced that a virtual London pub will hit HOME in January at a cost of 5 Euro's.

The possible uses for games consoles just keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Mike Pereira, VP of NFL was recently seen using the Xbox 360 controller while fast forwarding and rewinding various clips of a real NFL game.

Broadcasters are trying everything they can to make TV more exciting, but this has to be one of the first times a presenter has used an Xbox 360 to show analysis footage from a "football" game in America.

Strangely Mike Pereira, VP of NFL Officiating, only uses the controller for slow motion fastforward and rewinding through the clips of a tough call from a recent game.

Perhaps he was caught playing Madden Arcade or the full version before filming and had to make a quick decision.

Sony has revealed a thought that Project Natal and Wii are going to have problems matching the opportunities offered by Sony's motion sensing technology. One thing for sure is that it should be a good battle between them all.

It's a pretty seamless toolset that's going to accent gameplay substantially. In terms of the best types of games, I'd say that right now we're looking a real wide variety of genres that can utilize the technology. I think the areas that are going to be really critical to our success will be family games, as well as shooters and sports games. Those are going to be the areas that will really define success, because they're areas that quite honestly, I think Project Natal and the Wii are going to have trouble matching, from a differentiation standpoint. We look at motion control as being that much more than what exists on the market.

Sony has admitted that the PSP GO is selling better than they expected. John Koller noted the system is currently over-forecast what Sony original thought so obviously the team is very pleased with how the new system is progressing in the market.

The PSP Go has been the subject on constant scrutiny since it's October launch. In October, the direct download-only portable launched in the US, alongside the highly anticipated Gran Turismo PSP. Estimates put PSP Go sales at approximately 100,000 units sold, and overall, the PSP actually sold less than it did the previous October. In Japan, the retooled hardware is less than half way through the initial shipment released last month, being outsold by the PS2 and Xbox 360 consistently. At current rates, the Go's first shipment won't clear Japanese retail channels until April 2010.

Despite that, the PSP Go is apparently doing better than anticipated, according Sony marketing lead John Koller. "We are over-forecast on...

MaxConsole Review: NFL Arcade for PS3
Publisher: EA Sports
Available: PSN and XBLA

Introduction and initial impressions

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably intrigued by all the promise of big hits in NFL but less intrigued by all the tactics that go into a good game. However, fear not as EA is here with NFL ARCADE, a new 5 on 5 ‘ARCADE’ version of their NFL video game franchise. In our quick review of this casual game, we assess whether EA is successful in bringing NFL to the masses with some fun and quirky action.

So first things first, the game appears to come with all the big teams as well as real player rosters (minus a few players we’re told). Next up, one of the first things you’ll notice is the looks of the game, while not jaw-droppingly brilliant, they are still ‘pretty’ enough not to make you feel as if you aren’t playing an older generation game. Even Sony themselves have revealed some disbelief that people actually buy stuff like chairs for their digital appartments in Playstation Home. And those were the words of marketing director John Koller of Sony Hardware.

He recently showed astonishment that people buy virtual goods for their Playstation Home avatar with real currency. “It’s amazing to me that someone would buy a 50 cent chair for their PlayStation Home apartment with real money, but the revenue that comes from that is significant,†he said at iHollywood’s Digital Living Room conference in Santa Clara, according to The Register. Koller said Home is a profit maker due to the advertising revenue and, of course, the things people buy for their virtual selves. Koller didn’t provide figures, but at E3, Sony noted that branded virtual goods for Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 sold 200,000 units over two months.

A big statement here from Kaz, but perhaps it will be true. He's put his neck on the line to say that the physics system in the GT 5 could actually be nearly the same as REAL driving.

Kaz spends a lot of time speaking on the new physics system designed for Gran Turismo 5. He's really proud of the way the new physics system captures the 'dynamic' feel of driving, going as far to say "We feel that this could be nearly the same feel as actually driving". Kaz specifically mentions that feedback will give players a good indication of whether or not their car is under control or sliding.

According to reports, Modern Warfare 2 has suffered another and pretty big glitch. This time around its related to INFINTE AMMO which we're sure you'll agree will be pretty annoying online. However, fear not IW is working to fix this one and many others.

Modern Warfare 2 has been hit by an ammunition glitch.

Xbox 360 owners who have been playing the online multiplayer mode have been experiencing an issue that grants them infinite ammo.

Although the cause of the glitch is uncertain, it can be passed around virally between systems after playing together.

Disconnecting from Xbox Live and rebooting the system will clear the issue from the system's cache.

Interesting to say the least. Nintendo has apparently gone and trademarked a load of 'Wii like' names including Cii, Bii, Oii, Yii and Zii. It's kind of like Pokemon, Nintendo simply has gotta catch 'em all.
