After over 6 hard months of designing different PCBoards, and running into design flaws with the mounting of one of the main chips, I was so happy to learn that the first TEST board is up and working and being shipped out to the major backers and developers that are on-board with Bushing's wonderful project called OpenVizsla which the end goal is to design & build an affordable Open-Source USB Protocol Analyzer package, for all the little hobbyists out there in the world!

Normally these devices are all commerical and closed-source, limiting you to the options it can do, and draining your pocket-book, but they been helpful in the PS3 'scene' and allowing people to figure out how the original PSJailbreak, then later the PSDowngrade and now more recently the Cobra USB dongle.

But cracking those devices is child-play when it comes to this little gem of a...

For those that of you that have been busy restoring OtherOS onto their PS3 systems, r04drunner does not think the current distro's of Linux are designed well for the proper usage on your Jailbroken PS3 Consoles and he is right, so to that end he has been very busy working on his own Red Ribbon package!

Well it must be a slow news day out there, or is it because I have not been posting any news today, as all the other 'scene' sites decided to report on this old DH.org leak news on their front-pages, so I have decided to edit our valued crunching Krack3n member post he made in our regular forums earlier today, and move it to our front page also!

Infowars has an interesting article that exposes a recent memo sent to all Sony DADCemployees informing them that body scanners will be used on employees as they exit the facility. DADC stands for Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation which manufacturers CDs, DVDs, UMDs, and Blu-ray Discs.
Infowars seems to be covering the story from a privacy and safety standpoint. Sony states in the confidential memo that the procedure is being put in place to deter theft and leaks from their media manufacturing plant. You can view the full article at the following link HERE

IGN UK is reporting that Sony will be instituting a new "pass" system possibly aimed to thwart off the threat the used game industry.

Yesterday, German website Konsolentreff published early photos of the Resistance 3 PS3 bundle box showing a new logo that says "PSN Pass." The message read:

"Network features only available in countries that have PlayStation Store." However, no other details were provided.

SCEA responded to requests for comment this morning to clarify, saying this program requires customers to input a one-time use code to access a game's online capabilities, similar to EA's Online Pass introduced last year.

"We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities,"...

KaKaRaToKS has recently added the wonderful game called Scogger HD to his ever growing Humble Homebrew Collection.

If you have not check it out, you should it is wonderful idea and project and maybe someday it will get companies like Sony to change their mind, but I personally doubt it, but no matter in the meantime we can enjoy and support the developers to produce more great games like Scogger!

Jordandyckes has updated his PSN Download Manager to v3.97 and finally removed all those silly ad's in his program, so that was very nice of him to do for his ever growing fanbase that been using his program to grab their DLC at much faster speeds that Sony offers on their PSN network.

The team behind the PS3 Media Server have issued a new update to v1.30.1 which fixes issues with the very slow iTunes parsing.

Because PS3 Media Server is a DLNA compliant UPnP Media Server, it means it supports other devices besides just your PS3, and you can use it to stream to your legit updated online PS3, as it does not need any custom firmware installed.

Subcon959 and other developers have worked together to update the FBANEXT emulator package to a new level called r470!

If you have not fired up FBANEXT on your PS3 for a while, this one is worth it to as it greatly improves the Neo-Geo driver performance, so I stay up until 3:30am playing with some of my old favorites with a bunch of friends, that I totally forgot about posting the news update!

Tech blogs are reporting that Sony is testing a new PSN layout to be launched soon that revamps the whole look and feel. Maybe to bring it inline with the way the 360 has recently changed its look and feel after the Kinect launch. Hopefully someone with developer access will leak out screenshots of what the new PSN layout looks like, but it looks like that remaining days of old PSN pictured are soon going to a history item!

I am not really a big fan of Karaoke, as I have only done it once in my whole life, but tons of people are and it is great that developer Ole has updated his CDG (Karaoke File) Player to r2 to support all those PS3 owners that wish to play those special CDG Karaoke discs, and sing their hearts and soul out all night to their friends!

On the heels of the latest REBUG release, scene developer RogerO has updated his Backup Manager to v8.4 to make it compatible with their latest CFW firmware releases. It good to see developer working together to make sure everything stays nice and smooth for Jailbreak users!

Please note that Rogero Manager v8.4 is not compatible with Rebug 3.41.2 or 3.66_Version_Spoofer_2.0_341

cotojestwtf.jpg
This one is hard to follow and all the news sources are not in english and I don't fully understand the translations, but it seems that a developer by the name of Cotojestwtf that originally was famous for producing his Server Mapper program that allowed people to bypass some of the PSN protection and allow CFW users to get online with the big games like Call Of Duty, is now in trouble for his efforts to help the Jailbreak PS3 Users!

After Cotojestwtf produced this amazing program, he mentioned a few times that he was working on a new app called PS3LINKER and that it would allow CFW and legit OFW users to play together like a virtual private PSN type network, bypassing Sony all together, but then we come to the rumor part (which now has been confirmed) of this news story, that all of sudden he has been raided by police and had his PC's grabbed and...

Well even tho, new sources are not calling this a Rumor, I have decided to do so, but there could be alot of truth in the matter, Sony has grow tried of the all the Jailbreak'ers, Cheat Devices, OtherOS++ Users and not to mention the lack of name-brand sales due to slipping behind in the marketplace with the new toys that the Microsoft has added to its X360 Brand, mainly the highly successful sales of Kinect device which has been alot higher then Sony's Move sales, and not to mention the downfall of their PSN Network with over a month of off-line and millions of dollars in damages.

Well it was fun week watching all the wonderful artwork being uploaded for the logo competition that Codename: REBUG had been running here on PS3Crunch and I must say it was really tough for them to pick a winner, and to top it off they released a new firmware package with some updated features and of course includes the wonderful scorpion artwork by our crunching member blastleaf that I must say seems to be one hell of an artist!

Following up to their new spoofer version, is the updated OtherOS++ releases by team Codename: REBUG these include all the latest updates, and their new fancy logo that they picked from the recent logo contest we had ran for them here last week on PS3Crunch!

RS366.png
Codename: REBUG has been hard at work, and today they have released their famous spoofer, with the updated code to handle the latest version 3.66! Now of course this does not allow you to access PSN, but it does help for installing of some games, and prevents your family to for some reason update your nice shiny Jailbroken PS3 Console into a no-homebrew machine just be inserting the latest game or god forbid to try to go online and destory your PS3 by installing the latest legit stock firmware!

Even tho, it is still v3.55 CFW release, it is nice to see new guys putting in an effort in making up releases that might be useful to others and sharing it with the world. That is just what Varaques from PS3HAX.net has done! He has assembled his own custom firmware based on the last version possible at the moment v3.55, and shared it with everyone!
