Now here's an interesting little fact - the next generation iPhone and Microsoft's Project Natal will be built at the SAME factory. The lucky manufacturer is Taiweneese company Pegatron techology.

<blockquote>Taiwanese manufacturer Pegatron Technology was chosen by Apple to build the next-generation iPhone coming out later this year, according to a report in Taipei-based DigiTimes.

It noted that Microsoft has also hired Pegatron to build the "Project Natal" controllers for the Xbox 360 that will go on sale later this year.

Imagine if they jumbled things up and shipped motion-sensing iPhones or Natal controllers that synced to iTunes.</blockquote>

EA's latest hyped up to the max game has hit reviewers (Dante's Inferno) and it's not looking too good for them. IGN has awarded the game a 'good' score of 7.5 and note that it suffers from original gameplay features which prevent it from really establishing itself.

<blockquote>Dante’s Inferno takes a bold, visually impressive take on a literary classic and adds in an intriguing action focus to create a different kind of action title. Unfortunately, some derivative combat sequences and a shallow combo system prevent the title from becoming a truly great experience. The ending is obviously setting up a full-fledged series, but Dante’s Inferno suffers from unoriginal gameplay features that action fans have seen before, which keeps it from making its true mark.</blockquote>

A researcher has apparently detailed at the Black Hat DC confernce how it is possible to hack the processor used to secure the Xbox 360 and even computers and smartcards. Be warned, expect a lot of tech talk!

<blockquote>A researcher with expertise in hacking hardware Tuesday detailed at the Black Hat DC conference how it's possible to subvert the security of a processor used to protect computers, smartcards and even Microsoft's Xbox 360 gaming system.

Christopher Tarnovsky, a researcher at Flylogic Engineering, said he has hacked an Infineon SLE 66 CL PC processor that is also used with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chips. He emphasized that his research shows TPM, which was developed as an industry specification for hardware-based computer security by the Trusted Computing Group and has been implemented in hardware by Infineon and other manufacturers, is not as secure as presumed. TPM can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including storage of encryption keys and is...

According to a gaming site, a major publisher has informed them that there is talk that Nintendo will announce a new platform at GDC. Moreover, some devs have supposedly begun work on it already. Could this be the Wii 2 that we broke the news about last year? Perhaps.

<blockquote>Earlier this morning we were contacted by an employee at a major international publisher with the following information:

"Just heard a rumour that you may be interested in: Nintendo are going to announce a new platform at GDC. Some devs have already started work on it."

Our contact had no further information about whether the new platform was a handheld, home console or something else. The source also stated that he was sure of the platform's existence, but that the GDC launch was a less certain possibility.</blockquote>

That man again, Peter Dille has implied that the PS3's poor start was down to stock issues! However, many others would point to poor marketing amongst a barrage of other things. What do you think?

<blockquote>"The shortcoming was getting a lot of people whipped up and having them wait in-line and then only having a very, very limited amount of hardware supply globally, which meant that we had a kind of start and stop effect with our launch, which is hard to recover from," Dille told IGN. "It was a speed bump that we had to overcome and we overcame it.

"There is nothing but momentum behind the PS3 at this point," he added. "We're off to the races."</blockquote>

Sony has revealed that they are supremely confident that their PS3 system will surpass the Xbox 360. Moreover, they believe that MS effectively messed up their chances to 'sprint ahead' with the console war. A fair reflection?

<blockquote>Sony's senior VP of marketing and PSN boss Peter Dille says they're closing in fast on Microsoft and the Xbox 360; won't need 10 years.

While not predicting anything, says Dille, "we'll pass them" and adds Microsoft missed their opportunity to "sprint as far ahead" as possible.

"I'm confident we'll be around in 10 years and I can say that because we've done it twice. PS3 will be around in 10 years and probably much longer than that," said Dille in an interview with IGN, asked if PS3 will overtake Xbox 360 sales.</blockquote>

Sony's Peter Dille has gone on record recently to confirm that Sony are indeed looking at subscription based models for the Playstation Network. Up until now, the philosophy has been to make it all free, but times might change in the future.

<blockquote>Maybe a longer answer to a shorter question, but I think there is just tremendous improvements to the PlayStation Network, which leads me to your last question: will we charge for it or why don't we charge for it? It's been our philosophy not to charge for it from launch up until now, but Kaz recently went on the record as saying that's something we're looking at. I can confirm that as well. That's something that we're actively thinking about. What's the best way to approach that if we were to do that? You know, no announcements at this point in time, but it's something we're thinking about. </blockquote>

Ubisoft has offered some thoughts on why Just Dance for the Wii has been a surprise and huge sucess. Essentially, they believe having the 'right' product and the right 'audience' are crucial for third party success. So let's see some more hits Ubi!

<blockquote>“I think it is indicative of the current market and how many actual Wii owners there are in the UK that are looking for a game that is pure and simple fun like Just Dance,†says Ubisoft brand manager Rachael Grant.

“If the game is the right game and is targeted at the right audience then there is no reason why third-party publishers can’t become successful on Wii. Just Dance has clearly offered something unique to casual gamers and is not trying to be something it isn’t – it does what it says on the tin and consumers have embraced its simplicity and concept.â€

Nintendo’s senior product manager Robert Lowe adds: “It is not hard to have successful titles on Wii and DS if the right commitment is made...

From what we can understand, an Asian website is claiming that a method has been found to play pirated PS3 copies based on the GeoHot exploit. They claim a variety of disc copies including Uncharted 2 and countless others work and are being traded.

Full and choppy translation at <A href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Ftv.07073.com%2Fxinwen%2F364945.html" target="_blank">07073</a>

HOWEVER, just because copies are being made, it does not mean that they actually work so the validity of this article is seriously questionable.
