As you may know, the PS Vita browser doesn't support HTML5, so that means you aren't able to watch YouTube videos.
Well, while you wait for an official YouTube app (if ever), here's a neat trick so you can "download" them directly from your browser and watch them later:
1. Go to the following site on your Vita: http://oretube.blog99.fc2.com/blog-entry-75.html
2. Click and hold your finger on "PSVitaTubeDownloader" Then press open, nothing will actually open but this is fine.
3. Now click on "..."in the bottom right and then Add bookmark. Name it "Youtube downloader" for easy reference.
4. Go onto Youtube and find any video of your choice, click on it and then go into your bookmarks and click on "Youtube downloader"
5. Notice that below the "Subscribe" bar in the top left there will be 720p + 480p in blue or whatever resolution the video has. Click on one of them and hit save. The video will download onto the SD card and can be found in the Video section on Vita, the videos take seconds to download too as most Youtube videos are only 10-20MB. |
Basically, the JavaScript function of the "PSVitaTubeDownloader" you have to bookmark is the following one:
javascript:(function(a,e,b,c,d,f){b=a.createElement('p');b.style.fontSize='large';b.appendChild(a.createTextNode('Download'));f=encodeURIComponent(a.getElementById('eow-title').getAttribute('title').replace(/[\/:*?\x22|]/g,'_'));yt.playerConfig.args.url_encoded_fmt_stream_map.split(',').forEach(function(g){d=g.split('&').reduce(function(b,a){a=a.split('=');b[a[0]]=a[1];return(b)},{});if(e[d.itag]){c=a.createElement('a');c.style.marginLeft='10px';c.appendChild(a.createTextNode(e[d.itag]));c.href=decodeURIComponent(d.url)+'&title='+f;b.appendChild(c)}});a.getElementById('watch-headline').appendChild(b)})(document,{'22':'720p','18':'480p'})
So, there you go.
