Well, here's another round of troubles for world's largest electronic contract manufacturer, Foxconn.
This time, dozens were arrested after riot at their plant in Chengdu.
Apparently, they have been dismissed early from work everyday, and they have even been given day off for no reasons. Now, the workers are afraid of getting paid less than the minimum wage if the working arrangement goes on like this. The situation went from bad to worse when some male workers raised their grievance on Monday night, by throwing trash bins, chairs, pots, bottles and fireworks from the upper floors of the dormitory building to the ground. What’s more, dorm administrators were beaten up, and the local public security bureau brought hundreds of police officers to suppress the riot, which ended after two hours. Hundreds of male workers who took part in the riot were arrested. |
Foxconn's Chengdu plant is the one that produces liquid crystal displays for electronic products such as Apple's iPhone. Also, that one is the same factory in which an explosion in May last year killed two workers and injured 16 others.
