Developed by Pixel, Cave Story is one of the best 2D games ever.

Pixel developed a great game back in 2004, this game was Cave Story. Its quality made it to arrive to Steam, Wiiware and other platforms, but the original freeware release has remained freeware all these years.
Cave Story is an absolutely sublime 2D action/adventure game, with tight platforming, smart writing, perfect level design, loads of secrets... you can't miss it.
You can download the game for your PC or Mac using this link.
