Okay I have gotten a few PMs about this, and had noticed that the original thread got lost or something of the like. Hopefully with the help of some of the people here in the community we can begin to rebuild this thread (as well as other games :D ) So lets get started. I lost about 2/5 of the entire thread so please post rip instructions, in the thread or PM so that I can update it.

NOTE: if looking for ripkits not posted in this thread, then check the following thread by MANHUNT on where to locate them Here (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=11710)

This list has been complied from the various threads out there with all this information scattered the original idea for the thread was started by loash, but like I said the information is scatted in the thread and hasn’t been updated much. So I figured I would compile it into one thread. If I didn’t give credit where credit is due PM me so I can make changes. Also PM me with any updates so that I can add it to the list. I will try and keep this updated.

Update: I attached a small pmf file to be used when replace pmf files. This is a valid file, b/c you cant just create a txt file and rename it.

FAQ:
Q: What does replacing the .pad files do?
A: Nothing the pad file is used to help the game load when using the UMD. Deleting these files does nothing to the game play.

Q: How do I make a 0 byte file?
A: Create a text file by right-clicking and selecting new text file, then name it whatever you want (remember to include the extension)

Or to do multiple files at once (suggested by waynevan2000)
make a new text document, cut and paste this command inside it.

IF NOT EXIST DUMMY mkdir DUMMY
FOR %%A IN (*) DO TYPE > DUMMY\%%A
Del DUMMY\dummy.bat

Rename the text document to
dummy.bat

Then simply copy any files you want 0 bite's of, into a new folder along with the dummy bat. double click the dummy.bat file and it will make a new folder with duplicates of 0 bite's inside..

Q: How much space does the update folder take (from games like Coded Arms)?
A: roughly 13 MB

Q: How many games can I fit on one stick?
A: the following table will show roughly the amounts of space avalible on each of the stick out there. If these values are different please let me know
2 gig ----> 1.9GB
1 gig ----> 949MB
512 MB --> 474MB
256 MB --> 237MB
128 MB --> 118MB

Need for Speed Underground Rivals:
delete pad_na.dat in PSP_GAME\USRDIR
delete 31_donots_we_got_the_noise.pmf and 35_soulwax_any_minute_now.pmf in PSP_GAME\USRDIR\eatrax
Final ISO size: 172 MB

Also the intro movies can be replaced to save something like an additional 24 MB, and music tracks can be replaced with 0 byte files to further reduce the size of this to be able to fit on a 128MB stick.

Untold Legends:
Simply rebuild the ISO
Final ISO size: somewhere arounnd 360 MB

Tony Hawks:
delete the music folder in PSP_GAME/USRDIR/
ISO file size : 862mb

Mercury:
replace the music tracks with 0 byte versions.
final ISO size: 155mb

*I found that if you just delete the files it will have problems loading.

You can cut off a further 37mb by doing the same with all the Movies taking the ISO down to 118mb.

Tiger Woods:
1GB version
There are 2 Huge Pad files on USRDIR, just delete them

Pad0 300 MB
Pad1 600 MB

Final Iso 700MB (not bad from 1.8GB)

The commentary can be deleted to further reduce the size to about 560 MB, music can also be replaced with 0 byte files to goto 535 MB. If you don’t have a 1 GB stick then to make this work on a 512 MB, some of the courses will have to be deleted. I would say probably 2 or 3 full course would need to be deleted.

Note: there is a rip kit for this but it delete like 10 of the course or so.

ATV Offroad:
deleted MUSIC1, MUSIC2 and MOVIES.
ISO => 203 MB

Twisted Metal:
Normal: 800 mb
delete movies from MOV folder, but NOT the INTRO movie
final iso size: 235 mb

Edit: (reduced ISO, suggested by Liquid8d)

You can take it to 175MB by replacing PSP_GAME\USRDIR\STRM\*.at3 with dummy files.. didn't try just deleting them but game seems to play fine. On a side note, internet play didn't seem to work, which it seems to in all the other games

Update: This may not work properly. What I would do (and Im saying this without having tested it) is replace the movies with the 0.pmf renamed or take the smallest pmf, copy it and rename it to fit the other movies. I would also do that with the at3 files, so I would take the smallest one and copy it and then rename it to fit the other at3 files. This method should work because there is acutally something there when the game searchs for that specific file.

MVP Baseball:
remove both .pad files and replace the commentary file (spch_pbp is the commentary file) with a 0 byte file

final iso size: 350MB

NBA Street:
The only working version is the rip which is about 374 MB, this can further be reduced by replacing the music files with 0 byte versions

256 MB version from QweirdY:

To fit NBA Street Showdown (Using the "ind-nbashow" release) on a 256MB ms:

From USRDIR\speech: delete spchdats.big (120+ mb);
copy spchhdrs.big to harddrive, rename to spchdats.big and replace the earlier deleted spchdats.big file with the renamed one. (will have three files in speech folder after this process).

From USRDIR\eatrax replace files/tracks 07, 13 and 18 with 0 (zero) byte files (i.e. 07_beastieboys.aud with a 0 byte file, etc)
From USRDIR\music\ingame replace files/tracks 07, 13 and 18 with 0 (zero) byte files.

Final ISO should be about 233mb

Note: deleting other music files (or more music files to further reduce final iso size for that matter) may work but these were the files QweirdY deleted

FIFA:
From Bigguns2005. Havent tried this myself.

512MB:
Note:when replacing a pmf file, remember to use a valid pmf, there is one attached below (called 0.rar)

1. delete pad files in \PSP_GAME\USRDIR\
2 delete all files in the \PSP_GAME\USRDIR\data\eatrax except for the trackinfo file and "pauloak.aud"
3. Take the file "pauloak.aud" in the \PSP_GAME\USRDIR\data\eatrax folder and make 4 copies of it. Rename the 5 copies to these names
"air_surf.aud"
"dogs_die.aud"
"dogs_die.pmf"
"elkhand.aud"
"elkhand.pmf"
Now delete "pauloak.aud"
5. Next go into \PSP_GAME\USRDIR\alocale delete all files except "eas_eng.pmf". Make two copies of this file.
6. Rename the two copies of "eas_eng.pmf" to these names
"nfs.pmf"
"attract_na.pmf"
You should now have 3 files total in that dir.
7. Repack game with VCDROMX and you sould get an iso around 462MB.
8. Copy over to PSP and play some football.

256MB (This was tested by myself):
Delete the commentary and chants, and change the common.ini file to the have the following. The final result should be around 205MB, this was also reported by neo2120.

/ Audio configuration flags
AUDIO = 1
AUDIO_CHANTS=0
AUDIO_SFX=1
AUDIO_MUSIC=1
AUDIO_COMMENT=0
SFX=1
SPEECH=0
CHANTS=0
MUSIC=1
SPEECH_EVLOG=0

normally the file has the following flags set (so these are the lines you need to change)

AUDIO_COMMENT=1
SPEECH=1
AUDIO_CHANTS=1
CHANTS=1

Note:
If the match
Dutch Devision "Ajax" against Dutch Devision 'AZ Alkmaar"
is selected the PSP will crash, (this is on both the 512/256 versions)

Spiderman 2:
Replace the movie files with the activision splash movie saves about 80MB, and the music files can be replaced with 0 byte version to allow this game to fit on a 512 MB stick.

Bleach:
(from liquid8d)
Original ISO Size: 293MB
Final ISO Size: 182MB

replace all but one movie files with a copy of the ICON1.PMF file (it appears it just needs a valid pmf, so any pmf should do). DO NOT replace the intro movie 0000.pmf, or the game will not boot (thanks for the info RinceWind).

Dynasty Warriors:
(from mkawa6)
Original 153 MB
Final 125 MB

copy koeilogo.pmf, paste it, then rename it staff.pmf after deleting the original one, do this with the opening movie too (opening.pmf)

Metal Gear Acid

You can replace all of the files in the mpg folder with a smaller pmf. file, as long as the name is exact this could save upto about 85MB or so, a small pmf file is attached to use with this (called 0.rar).

Wipeout Pure:

This is a ripkit that was made by Zabbyh. This is pretty much the easiest way to do it, b/c a wad extractor was needed. To apply this read the read me file in the rar

MLB
(from 667)

-Extract the iso
-remove the "PXP.SKX" file (located in the "USRDIR/SNDPSP/SOUND" directory)
-Rebuild the ISO using vcdRomX. Final size is about 830mb.
-Launch and play

note: I had problems getting passed the loading screen in "Quick Play" (though the Season Mode was ok), but everything got back to normal once I switched off the "play by play audio" feature in the option menu

Update: has been several reports of this game crashing, but there has also been reports from it working too. This rebuild is a YMMV (meaning Your Mileage May Vary, a term for try at your own risk)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++

Hope this helps some people.

Ridge Racer
This was tested by myself, and added here now that Ridge Racer is compatable with the latest version of fastloader

Okay for Ridge Racer can be ripped to fit on either a 512 or a 256 depending on what you want to keep.

512MB: Just go into the sound folder and replace bgm_nps_pack.bin
with a 0 byte version.

256MB: Do the same as above and replace all the movie files (.pmf) with the 0.pmf (That came with the MGA ripkit).

Original ISO: 885MB
rebuilt ISO: 187MB

NFL Street
suggested by aliasjim2000

1)Extract ISO
2)Delete PSP_GAME/USRDIR/data/AMBSTRM.dat (size 451.820 Mo)
3)rebuild ISO with VcdromX

Original ISO : 680 MB
FINAL ISO : 220 MB

Mobile Train Simulator + Densha de Go
suggested by wballz

The .ALL files seem to be the track/cicuits in the game so you can remove a couple of these and still play as long as you don't select the deleted tracks.

Medievil Multi-Language European Version

Note: This game needs to be ripped to fit on a 1 gig stick, anything smaller will not work

This is a list of the english movies that are in the ISO, some of these will need to be dummied, this can be done at the discretion of the user. Futhermore the two ripkits I have seen, is one to dummy every movie file and the other to rip everything but spanish stuff. There is a great amount of movies that are in english. Keeping just the english stuff will still be over a gig. The first things to rip are the demos and then the other language audio which I will highlight in the list below.The following list was complied by DjoeN.

What I did personally is dummy some of the bigger files (like the intro, because I had already seen it), to make the ISO around 900MB and only lose about 9-10 movies, so that I could rebuild and still have room to save. So that I still have a good amount of the movies.

Adventure Player
Suggested by CapnSkull
In the Adventure Player game there is a folder called DMY that contains a big ol bunch of 0's when i hex edited it. just replace it with a 0 byte of the same name as it that you created in notepad. This will reduce this ISO by about a 1/2 gig.

RIP INSTRUCTIONS FOR 442MB ISO
----------------------------------------------
Delete the commentary(PSP_GAME\USRDIR\pspStrm.PCK) and the Firmware update folder.
Works fine with FL 0.7

Tiger Woods 06
Suggested by mkawa6

Original size: 1.21gb
Final size: 505mb

What I did:

1. Dummied the update folder (you can also just delete this)

2. Ripped the 2 pad files in USRDIR (pad0.pad and pad1.pad)

3. In USRDIR\data\audio\streams I copied and pasted 04_femusic.viv. Deleted 01_commentary.viv, and renamed the copied 04_femusic to 01_commentary.viv

4. In USRDIR\data\eatrax, similar to the commentary file method, I copied 02_twst.aud and pasted it as many times as necessary. I renamed all of the copies to 01_twst.aud, 03_twst.aud, 04_twst.aud all the way to 16_title.aud (i personally kept at least 1 more song to have variation, which was 09_twst.aud)

5. In USRDIR\data\movies\na I copied and pasted easports_eng.pmf three times, then renamed the files to the 3 other movies (fifa, madden, and nba)

I rebuilt it with UMDGen, and tested it my self. Just in case, I turned off the commentary via options menu. I played 1 quick match, and also the rival match. In the rival match i played the first guy, and did tournament mode. Throughout the whole 18 holes, I didn't experience any problems.

If there is anything wrong, please let us know. Thanks, and I hope this helps!

edit: hehe sorry, it looks like in the tiger woods thread there is already a smaller rip that works (around 450 mb?) and you can even further that rip by deleting files in the 'holes' directory (250 mb?). well, if anyone wants to combine this with the ripping method of the 'holes' directory and find out the final size, please do so.

Burnout
suggested by Drastic16

Update: the following only get the game down to 325MB in size

Just Delete The Music Update And Ovid Folder And Delete The B1 Tracks Folder You Dont Unlock These Folders Until The End Of The Game So When You Get There You Can Just Put Them Back In

Guilty Gear XX Reload (JAP)
Suggested by mkawa6

Original size: 463 mb
Final size: 274mb

What he did:

1. I dummied the Update folder (you can also rip this folder completely)
2. In USRDIR\movie I replaced all the files with the al.pmf file
3. This one might take a while, if someone can teach me how to make a rip kit, I'd be very thankful. Until then, I manually copied and pasted the smallest file in the folder USRDIR\bgm (which was 26.at3) as many times as necessary, and replaced each and every file in the folder USRDIR\bgm with the 26.at3 file.
4. Rebuilt the file with UMDGen.

Taiko no Tatsujin Portable
As suggested by r3z

Original size: 377 mb
Final size: 297mb

Here is his original post:
You can just rebuild the iso to save about 60-70MB but it won't work. The solution to this was posted by Kenobi here a while ago but I don't think many people noticed it.. http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=8546. There's some new songs out now so more people might be interested..

Quote from Kenobi:
for Taiko you need to update the 4 bytes at offset 0x4 in the file data_info.bin (original number will be 0x60EA0000 (= 0x0000EA60 = 60000, the original LBA of the file data.bin)) with the new LBA value of the file data.bin (for exemple if the new LBA is 28950 (=0x00007116), overwrite 0x60EA0000 with 0x16710000)
End Quote

The 28950 LBA value is correct if you are just rebuilding the ISO but if you rip anything else (like the Update folder) you'll need to check the new LBA and use that. It's about 297MB if you just rebuild+delete the Update folder. You could also try removing the opening movie as it's 18.5MB but I have never bothered to try it myself.

Note: this is a bit more advanced as it requires a hex editor. There are many out there, so just google for hex editor, I use hex workshop which is really easy to use, but all do pretty much the same thing. If you have already messed with hex editing anything, than this is really a simple fix.

Madden 06
Suggested by JaysonX3

Final size: 236
Original size: 455

Take the 422 MB rip for 512 sticks thats is on the net and,
Dummy the bgm.dat file and copy spchmad1.dat rename it to spchmad2.dat and replace it. Do the same as before and copy once more spchmad1.dat and rename it to spchdata.dat. He says this one doesnt freeze like the other version about the same size.

Marvel Nemesis
135MB rip instructions (suggested by derp, and also tested by me)

The full version has a huge pad, which can be deleted and the update folder can also be deleted to make the final size about 135MB.

NBA Live 06
128MB rip suggested by gmrxbox

+Dummy all of the files in USRDIR/eatrax with 0kb files, EXCEPT trackinfo.
+Replace all of the movies USRDIR/eatrax with easports_eng.pmf, in the same folder.
+Replace the file in USRDIR/speech/asw called aswdat.fcd with the file 3pthdr.fcd. Rename it correctly.
+Finally, replace the file in USRDIR/speech/arena called xarndat.fcd with the file xarnhdr.fcd. Rename appropriately.

+take out the pad files in USRDIR.

In his post he says: This should give you a rip that is around 100mb. As far as I have tested, Quick Play and Season seem to work. I have not tested anything else. The only annoyance is the crowd will always be cheering lightly in the background.

you can dummy in PSP/USRDIR/DATA/sound pxp.skx and yells.skx and in SYSDIR delete the UPDATE folder and the iso is down to 176 mb

Untested for now. this should work for a 512MB stick

Delete PAD files of course, dummy pmf's, and the dont forget the pmf's in the ea tracks folder, and also the update folder. X-Men Legends 2
Suggested by Paradebh
He did some tests and here the results.

In SOUND\ENG you have a lot of sound files and the basic structure is:

xxxx_a.zss (or zsm, whatever) is the (ridiculous) ambient files and the total in mb is 162mb - wind sound, sirene sounds - you must rip it.
xxxx_c.zss is the musics files. Total 305mb
xxxx_v.zss is the voices during the cut scenes and dialogs (rip it too). Total 167mb
xxxx_d.zss and xxxx_m.zss are good sound effects during the game. Fire, water, etc. These files are small, i think you don't need to remove these. Total I don't know.
sounds\eng\x\_\x_voice.zss thats the voices of all xmen. Total 137mb (i like it)

Game without any sound has 440mb aproximated.

He made two rips:

1 - With 913mb - with xmen voices, musics and little sounds ("d" and "m" files) - ripped the "v" and "a" files (voices in cutscenes and ambient sounds).
2- With 565mb - with xmen voices and little sounds ("d" and "m" files) - ripped the "v", "c" and "a" files. (voices in cutscenes, musics and ambient sounds)

Note: the ambient files are ridiculous and has 165mb.
To rip the files, in this game, just delete then.

3) Dump the UMD to an ISO
4) Extract all the files from the ISO to a directory (eg. X:\PF)
5) Go to X:\PF\PSP_GAME\SYSDIR and delete the UPDATE directory
6) Go to X:\PF\PSP_GAME\USRDIR
7) Copy the contents of the ripkit rar file to this directory
8) Double-click French.bat (if it exits/stops quickly you probably have a cygwin.dll somewhere on your system, find it and rename it or delete it)
9) French.bat will create 2 new version of the 2 .pak files, delete the old and rename the new (just remove .out at the end)
10) Go to X:\PF\PSP_GAME\USRDIR\MOVIES and delete:
- Killer66_Win_EN.pmf
- Killer66_Win_SP.pmf
- Killer66_Win_IT.pmf
- Killer66_Win_GR.pmf
- SceneSetter_EN.pmf
- SceneSetter_SP.pmf
- SceneSetter_IT.pmf
- SceneSetter_GR.pmf
11) run UMDGEN and drag the contents of X:\PF (that means PSP_GAME directory and UMD_DATA.BIN) to UMDGEN's right part of it's window (says something about no items to display, that's the part you drag the files to)
12) Choose File/Save as... and name and save the iso (eg. PF.iso)
13) Connect your PSP
14) Put a game UMD in your PSP's UMD drive
15) Copy the PF.iso to your ms:/ISO directory
16) Start UMD Emu, select system menu as load method and then select PF.iso
17) It will return to the system menu and the UMD will now show as Pursuit Force, press X (or O depending on your system being Japanese or not)
18) Play!

Update: added Gherudos' Frogger Helmet Chaos ripkit to the thread.
Update added slinker's Prusuit Force ripkit, that takes it down to 947MB, which is just enough to play the game on a 1gig

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 (NTSC)

Thanks, and I hope this helps!

edit: hehe sorry, it looks like in the tiger woods thread there is already a smaller rip that works (around 450 mb?) and you can even further that rip by deleting files in the 'holes' directory (250 mb?). well, if anyone wants to combine this with the ripping method of the 'holes' directory and find out the final size, please do so.

i find it frustrating trying to rebuild my own iso smaller. the only files that i can delete and have success with loading is the update folder. i tried deleting a couple of movies, music, speech, and then rebuild the iso but no luck. i also tried replacing those files i take out with blank .txt and renaming it and still doesn't work.

i guess i'm not understanding how you are suppose know which files is important or which files you can replace or which can be deleted. so maybe, topic creator, you can detail your "How To" guide a little better because i find that ripkits are just as good and easier.

Okay well, to replace a file it may be necessary (in windows explorer for example) to go into Tools ---> Folder Options ---> Select view tab, and uncheck hide extensions for know file type. I say this may be necessary because when you save the file it may still have the .txt extension. Im not excatly sure about this because I have always had that option of not hiding known extensions as it makes rar files eaiser to deal with. Secondly, make sure you are renaming the dummy file to be exactly the same name as the file you are replacing. If you are replacing certain files such as a pmf, or music file sometimes just creating a dummy will not work. There is a special file attached called 0.rar that contains a very small pmf that can be used to replace pmf files. Most of the time you can just delete the music, but the movies sometimes (not always) need to be dummied. Hope this clears somethings up and gets you on your way to rebuilding ISOs.

Guilty Gear XX Reload (JAP)

Original size: 463 mb
Final size: 274mb

What I did:

I have tested this in the sense that it loaded with UMDEmulator .8c and played a quick battle in story mode. If there is something wrong with this file after the rip, please let us know.

mkawa6
10-01-2005, 08:30 AM
usually it is stated in a readme file, if it isnt, then try going to the file that executes the rip, right click it, then go to edit. once it is open in a progam such as notepad, it should show you what that file is going to do to your iso/extracted iso.

im glad that this thread is back, and stickied. I was wondering where it went. good stuff cybersage, keep up the good work

Marvel Nemesis Rise of the Imperfects has a rather large pad0.pad file, also an update folder. Was able to shrink this to 138mb without touching music or videos - which look like they could be dummied also. Potentially under 100mb with some effort. I tested both UmdEmulator and the latest Fastloader, both worked fine.

i did this one a few months back, but only just got around to putting it up here

puyo pop fever jap (can be changed to english)
rip out all the files that have a copy of the same file but the files that have an e on them keep

ie: hitopuyoB.gim jap file <---- rip this one
hitopuyoB_e.gim english file

insideW_0.gim jap file <---- rip this one
insideW_0_e.gim english file

and so on , i have got my rip from 135mb down to 91.3mb.
you could also dummy or rip the at3 files which would give you another 24mb off the final size, and another 2mb if you take the eboot file out.
down to maybe a 66mb file :)

This is what is need to make Burnout fit on a 256MB stick

Just Delete The Music Update And Ovid Folder And Delete The B1 Tracks Folder You Dont Unlock These Folders Until The End Of The Game So When You Get There You Can Just Put Them Back In

That is incorrect, the above method will only reduce the .iso file size to 325 MB. Just an FYI...

Just an update here I have managed to get this down to 714MB, buy dummying down all the PMF's and the uneeded languge files as well (Just left English) However I am trying to get a cohort of mine to play test this to insure that it does work. I would do it but I only have a 512MB stick. The only things left that could really be ripped are tracks...but from what I have read there seems to be an issue when trying to remove tracks...any insight would be much appreciated.

did you just rip out the files? try relinking the files you ripped out with a smaller file with the same extension. What i do is, i find the smallest file in the folder that has the same extension, and just copy it many times, and renamed the copies to the other music files, therefore it will just repeat one track. hope this helps.

Okay for Ridge Racer can be ripped to fit on either a 512 or a 256 depending on what you want to keep.

512MB: Just go into the sound folder and replace bgm_nps_pack.bin
with a 0 byte version.

I tried relinking the files, and it still wouldnt work, i also tried compiling with vcdromx and it froze my psp. with umdgen the game would boot, ask if i wanted autosave enabled. wether i choose yes or no, it then goes to a black screen and does nothing.

Here is my methodology if dummying doesn't work.

1st: I identify the smallest file of the type I am going to replace. whether it be movie or music
2nd: I copy that file a bunch of times and then rename it to be exactly the same as the file I want to relink/replace, I do this after I delete the file I am replacing otherwise I will get an error.
3rd: I rebuild it normally using UMD Gen, but when working with this game I was using Vcdromx at the time.

Try this I hope it helps, if not post your step by step instructions and someone will try to help

I only ripped ("c" and "v") music and cutscene voices and have a working 748mb rip Thanks Alot :)

Hi mi first post here:)
I have tip for rip this without loosing music.

Maybe its bad but works for me:)

Extract iso and now
go to PSP_GAME\USRDIR\STREAMS\

and delete file streamsp.wad
after this create 0 file size with the same name as deleted: streamsp.wad
This will compact ur legit copy.
If u want shrink it more go to PSP_GAME\USRDIR\MOVIES\
do a copy from file nsbails.pmf and replace bigger files (but filename must be original from replaced file)
e.g.:
copy the name of file probail1.pmf
delete it
do a copy of file nsbails.pmf and rename it to probail1.pmf
the same thing with next file
(with this u can save space:)
if u want maximum shrink del all files in PSP_GAME\USRDIR\MUSIC\
i will try to shrink it more:)
if u have time pls test stability with 0 size file streamsp.wad.
Thx for this great forum.

Does anyone know which pmf files I can safely rip from Kingdom of Paradise without loosing anything important. I've already ripped the browser and the update folders but the iso is still too large for a 1 gig stick. I've tried the 916 ripkit on 2 seperate computers and it produces an unusable iso (too small) so I need to do this manually. Thanks in advance.

EDIT

After few hours and with the help of pmf player I tracked down the files I needed to rip. If anyone else wants to rip this manually, here's the list.

Remove:
Update folder
Browser folder

Dummy:
USRDIR/mdata/ev_03_11.pmf and ev_10_01.pmf
USRDIR/mdata/usa/ev_03_11.pmf, ev_10_01.pmf and OP_00.pmf

This'll remove two short crowd demo vids and the the opening vid.

That's it. Hope this helps someone at some point.

I tried to load ssx on tour in umdgen but it says it isnt an psp iso. And it does work on my psp. It would come handy if it was smaller. A few other games give the same error in umdgen and a few games can normally be opened with umdgen.
How can i open the other ones too?

I only ripped ("c" and "v") music and cutscene voices and have a working 748mb rip Thanks Alot :)

i did the same thing.but the problem is that the game does not load.it comes up with this message ''the game could not load" or something like that.it seem to me that the game requires 2,0fw.what did you do to overcome this problem?

Using Umdemulator will bypass the required update in this case, so thats not your problem

i think this is a problem with your settings within umdemulator, mine is ripped to 740something mb and works without problems

if i remember correctly (which i rarely do) it works with copy load

Yes I did exatly the same as I think youre gonna do. I played the game on stick to reduce the loading time from 1 minute each race to something like 4 or 5 seconds, and whenever I wanted to customize the car, I did it with the UMD ;)
I think it's a very good game. Don't know why it's generally considered as ad though :( ?!?

Hi there...

Wondering if anyone has had any success or tips in shrinking this down past the 660MB ripkit that's been floated around. Great game, but would love to get it a little smaller on the stick.

Thx in advance for any help or suggestions you might offer.

i was able to shrink a starwars battle front 2 iso from 670 to 1 think 250 or something like that.

i switched out three .lvl files: gal, global, and shell. the global.lvl file was 385 mb alone. everything works fine. i played the game for about 15 minutes with no problems. i dont know what these files were because i didnt play the game before the switch.

there were more lvl files but these were the only ones i messed with as they saved the most size.

im sure there is a ripkit for this game so i hope this helps. i didnt see anything mentioned for this game in this thread.

great thread. helped me out alot.

MGA 2

Ive just replaced 1 of the .pmf files in PSP_GAME\USRDIR\mpg with a 20kb one and relinked ALL the other files to it.

Removed Update folder.

Final iso = 139 mb.

Working fine so far. You may want to play them through LANDE PMF PLAYER 1.0 (or another pmf player)to see if there is anything you want to keep.

Now if we could only edit the card's to English :cool:

edit: Locks up if you enter theater mode.. Who cares lol

So you can play MGA2 with save and its only 139mb big?
Could you explain what and how you changed,ripped out and so on?
And it only works with MPH Loader?

waynevan2000
03-01-2006, 06:18 PM
I built the iso a while ago (before MPH loader) but this ir roughly what i did.

In modules folder i used .prx's from mga1 (Ac!d). or legend of heroes.
or just decrypt the originals..
cant remember if i did the eboot also.
dummied UPDATE
relinked MPG .pmf's to a 20kb one.
Relinked/rebuilt with UMDGen_v2.00 (padding NONE)
Load with UMDemulator 8.0c
mode = system menu
emulation = both OFF
boot bin = OFF
Load with MPH Game loader

139mb plays with save.

only time it's locked up on me so far is if i try to access theater.
Probably if you relink to an existing .pmf rather than 20kb one i used it would not lock up. (although they would all be the same)

Direct load , boot bin on = No save without MPH game loader.

Edit: Locks up at the end of stage 5.
SOME of the pmf's are needed.(ie.chronicle_pack.pmf etc.)

How to Dummy a file the easy way (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=16570)

And the file you need to dummy must NOT be a vital file to running/starting the game! I don't know what gal.lvl and shell.lvl do... but they sound like they may be vital...
and you need "vcdrom extension" which has an ".ISO" option
it's here soemplace, just search for it

Created by Gaidin for the ps2 scene.
Simply right click on a file and select 'replace with dummy'

It saves me loads of time :cool:

Is there somewhere I can find this 913mb rip?

X-Men Legends 2

Well, the best thing you can do with the X-MEN Legends 2 is to:

1. delete the "update" folder

2. dummy the "i10*.pmf" files in the "movies/.../eng/i/1/" folder

3. in folder "sounds/eng/", replace all "*_c.zss" music files with ones from my package.

4. create iso or cso it

5. enjoy

The virgin ISO works, but everytime I touch the ISO, even if I only dummy the UPDATE files or remove the icon1 sound, it refuses to load. This is annoying, as the UPDATE files are nearly half the size of the whole ISO. Any tips? I'm using UMDgen 4.

I'm sorry guys i'm new to this...i tried looking here for a guide on how to do this but i didnt see one...i understand what to do after you rip it but what program do you use to rip it...i heard something about UMD Dumper Alpha and using Fast Loader to play the iso's? skirocket
05-11-2007, 01:58 PM
You can use umdgen to rip the game yourself or get one of the ripkits available in the A-Z thread,
To play the backed up games you can use 1.5 but you need a iso loader like devhook, if you have a psp with version 2.00 to 303 you can downgrade it to 1.5 and install custom fw which has a built in loader :)

what fw do you have?

bigstrickler
05-11-2007, 05:31 PM
I have 3.03 but I am planning on downgrading to 1.5 as soon as my copy of GTA comes...wait from my understanding, you have to use a dvd dumper then transfer the iso to your pc and use the game rips to make the iso file smaller...or do u just use the game rips to directly rip the UMD
