Hello Emukidid,

Great job! I got a question: Are you sure the checksum in the readme.txt file for AR builder version is still correct ? I got a different checksum with dolLZ3.

emu_kidid
12-07-2005, 07:05 PM
That's the checksum for the dol produced at the end. The CRC for dollz3'd AR108 is 37326528.

Edit, everyone get the fixed font size version from the first thread if you already had downloaded it.

emu_kidid
12-07-2005, 08:31 PM
Yes for originals you need to go to "Misc">"Boot Original DVD".

In T3 it could all be done with one option but that didn't help out Action Replay Users.

Emu_kidid,

You are right. I reread the readme file again and found that I forgot the -m option. After the correction, the checksum matches yours.

Thanks.

The downloads have been updated once again, please redownload it, now multigames will list how many games you actually have, not too little not too many.

Note that if you have over 14 games there will be text overlap.

Awesome!!! Thanks emu_kidid!! I have just tested all my streaming audio games and they work great, thank you so much for all your hard work on this. I have created a raw image of my official 59 block memcard with GcOS 1.5 on it for anyone that might find it useful and posted it in the raw image thread here (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=8312&page=5)

Just one question, the LAN Explorer, what 'client' is it I need on my PC in order to stream stuff?

Thanks!!

I think emu_kidid only has so much time he can devote to GcOS and you should be happy with the improvements in 1.5 rather than moaning about things that haven't been implemented. I think the development scedule for GcOS has been great, a lot of these type of projects get abandoned for years on end, you should be greatful for what work has been done up till now.

If you are really bothered about 1 or 2 titles not working, either buy them or code multidisc support yourself, either way, quit whining.

I'm really grateful to Emu_kidid. I just thought that in the complete version of Gcos 1.5 would have been implemented this feature too. Thanks for everithing you do Emu_kidid!

ehrm EmuKid I appreciate a lot your hard Work!!
So thanks for all your patience for us!!!

Only one question please!! Is it possible for you to implement the two-disc support?? Or is this another hard work for you???
So please, if it is a joke for you, can you release a new version (maybe 1.5.1) with this "important" (for me and many others) feature implemented???

Thanks in advance!!! Bye!! ;)

It can be done through lengthy AR codes if you're THAT in need of it.

It can be done through lengthy AR codes if you're THAT in need of it.

uhhhh using an AR code to inject the new drive code, now thats intresting, I never thought of something like that could be done with the cheat engine, hum wont it need to be used with an (M) code for each game thought and use a Joker code to be pressed for uploading the new drive code or have you found another way of doing it?

emu_kidid
12-08-2005, 05:14 AM
I thought/tried to do it this way but i failed:

Make AR Codes, along with using the (M) code to patch the DVD_RESET of a certain game to NOT reset the drive, only to spin it up and switch the laser on. (this would need the drive to be pre-unlocked, i.e. from gcos, which it is).

But the codes didn't fit.

This is how it should be done..
Debug the games with GCNRD (cmon, there's not that many 2-disc games!), see where they have about 2kb of free mem in RAM. Have GCoS upload code there before execution, Or write codes to upload code there after execution.
Then, patch DVD_RESET and lowdvdreset to reset the drive and unlock the drive, then re-send the drivecode (which is in mem) then set the status good etc and then let it read the ID.

I Have all the mem offsets of DVD_RESET for Res evil4, ToS, MGSTS (all NTSC). I think the best and easiest way would be to use libGCARS and have the patches happen automatically without the user knowing, i.e. if game = MGSTS then patch ;)

I don't know, I haven't worked with libGCARS or AR but if someone wants to do it, that's pretty much how to hardcode it for the games.

emu_kidid
12-08-2005, 05:49 AM
I've been told this can be done easier and without the need for AR patching .. hehe but for now we'll leave it at that until that developer makes his return! ;)

what i have experianced so far after a couple of hours fittling with gcos1.5!

- booting time is slow
- disk spins up and down many times?
- bottom of the screen is cut off for some odd reason (i have a ntsc tv and cube)
-AR codes are coming from where exactly?? i go to AR option, press Z, disk spins and then says "enjoy game name here." then the screen goes black!
- when using disk explorer somtimes the disk will stop spining and then a black screen

* this is my experiance with this 1.5 bios. i have a NTSC gamecube and use G04 disks burnt at 1x-2x,i've also tried other disks like fujifilm and officedepots, so if you are wondering if it is my disks it is not.
i will be switching back to cobra 1.2 now cus atm i'm not satisfied with gcos 1.5. thanks for all the hard work on this bios i'm sure it will be great in the future :D

Pritty much a bad way to patch them then, to patch them and use actual AR codes too, would require you to use a newer AR cheat engine too, if most games were like say PSO this would be quite simple because their is so much in PSO that can actualy be over written and not affect the game (the cuzz filer :D) but making an AR code for each game that needed it also needing it for each and every single version of the game would be a pain in the ass, their is another way to also do this AR patching with out even using the AR engine, if someone wanted to actualy do this and can code, they can acutaly patch their own backups to inpliment the new drive code them selves and do an ASM joker to the drive code when the lid is opened.

But still I wouldnt mess around doing this since I can use qoob's bios for multi disk games :)

Thanks

Emu_kidid,

I got a scrambled display of the game info when I use the Action replay
feature of GCOS 1.5 right after I put in the game disk and press Z under the
misc Action Replay menu command. Here's what I did to create the GCOS ARbuilder version:

I ran the runme.bat inside AR Builder of GCOS1.5 and got a dol file with
a matched checksum of 0876c44b. Then I took the GCoS With AR.dol file
and further compress it with dolLZ 3.0 without using any of the flags (i.e.
dollz3.exe GCoS_With_AR.dol gcos15ar-dlz3.dol) to further compress the dol
(I saved about 100KB that way). Then I do a dol2gci to the compressed dol and send the dol to my memory card via ctr-gcs10. I then booted it with Samson's AR booting method and selected the compressed GCOS with AR dol. After that I select the misc>action replay option, swapped the AR disk with the game disk and then pressed Z. It displayed the game title OK but there are some garbage data following it and then the AR screen appears and everything works fine after that.

Is that a glitch or did I do something wrong in the process of compressing the dol (e.g. perhaps I should use something other than the default option
of dolLZ3 ?) ?

Thanks

This is what you must do to dump the drives firmware:
Go to Misc->Dump Firmware in GCoS then and only then, go to the url to dump the firmware.

the url is case sensitive so it must all be in caps /DFW.DAT

Oh and using GCoS 1.5 would help!

So now that GCOS 1.5 has the streaming audio fix taken care of, what will happen to all the games that we FSTfix'd before burning so that they would work with 1.4 and all the teasers? Neonight, earlier on this thread (I think it was this one anyways) it was discussed that it is not yet supported, but that there's a coder on it (somewhere around those lines)

For memory card users, use the PSO dol, and d0llz3 it, it will go down from 313k to 113k and work perfect.

Have the game inserted BEFORE you go to "Boot Game" thats all i can think you're doing wrong. Otherwise there's no reason this can't see your games as it's basically the same method.

hmm the AR function does not seem to be working right. I built the dol right using ar108.dol and the CRC check was correct. I converted it to a GCI then botted it off the memcard. Went to Misc > AR then put in my game then pressed Z. AR starts up and i select my codes (noticed that it keeps pressing the down button) then when i press start to start the game it flashes that open lid thing then my video goes out and their is no sound. Any ideas?

Any ideas on what I need to do to have this flashed on my Qoob SX chip?

Is there any way to edit one of the Qoob_sx_upgrade.elf files to make it work with this the GCOS15_sx.gcb, so that the SX can actually be flashed with GCOS.

As far as I can tell, you can't do anything with the Sx version you released, since it cannot be loaded or flashed to the chip in it's current form. Am i wrong?

emu_kidid

qoob sx doesnt support .gcb files anyway, qoob pro does.

qoob sx can only run update.elf to flash the bios.

There's a CRC value that the .elf uses to match up with the actual data about to be flashed. You'll need to edit the CRC and the actual bios data about to be written. I have no qoobSX, someone who owns one, you're welcome to try.

Otherwise, you can simply use the (qoob internal flashmem) DOL file.

Here is the steps using GCoS With AR, I covered only softmod since I have unmoded GC.

Requirements:
Action Replay 1.08 disc (Original!)
1 x 251 Original Nintendo Memory card

Steps:
01. Transfer "GCoS With AR.gci" to MC251 using BBA etc.
02. Insert MC251 to slot B.
03. Insert AR 1.08 disc
04. Power on GC.
05. Select "Action Replay"
06. As requested, open the lid, wait 2 secs, then close the lid.
07. Select "GCoS With Ar.dol"
08. After GCoS 1.5 main menu displayed, CHANGE AR DISC WITH YOUR BACKUP GAME DISC (IMPORTANT!)
09. Select "Misc"
10. Select "Action Replay"
11. On AR Main Menu select "Options", turn "Auto Update" to "Off".
12. Back to AR Main Menu, Select "Action Replay Codes" then your BACKUP GAME TITLE
13. Select cheats you want.
14. Press "Start" button
15. The screen will goes black momentarily then boot your BACKUP GAME!

That's it, folks.

BTW, my GC is DOL-001, US/NTSC, Drive 06.

Has anyone with a maxdrive tried this method to bring AR108 to the latest cheat code?

http://uk.codejunkies.com/support_article_detail.asp?c=GB&cr=GBP&cs=£&r=1&l=1&p=7&i=10&g=1&ProdId=4
...
Once you've identified which version you have you will need to download all the codelist files to take yours up to the current version. For instance, if you identified that you had version 1.12 (from the inner ring on the underside of the software disc) then you would download the following files:

"V1.12 - 1.13" "V1.13 - 1.15" "V1.16"

And then finally:

"Latest update"

Once you have downloaded the files:

Start your MAX Drive software on your GameCube and prepare your Max Drive card for the PC (see your Max Drive instruction manual for instructions on how to do this)
Remove the MAX Drive card and connect it to your PC via the USB lead
Start your MAX Drive PC software and copy the first codefile to the card.
Disconnect the USB cable and connect your MAX Drive card to your GameCube and prepare the card for normal use.
Swap the MAX Drive disc for your Action Replay software and start Action Replay with your MAX Drive card inserted. Action Replay should merge the codefile with your current list.
Now repeat all the above steps for each codefile. The reason you need to do this is because due to the size of the latest codelist, Action Replay 1.12 - 1.14 is unable to add all the new codes in one go.

Once you have completed the above procedure for each codefile you needed (depending on which version of Action Replay you have) you are done!

Load Action Replay with your MAX Drive card present and you should have ALL the most up date codes.

You own a PAL GC and you try to boot NTSC game (i.e.) or the oposite?

If this is the problem (and if this is NOT as well :p )
go to settings and on more settings or advanced (I work just two days with this mastrpiece bios  and I am not sure) choose "force auto detect"!!!!!

Your original game come from compatible region thats why they work.

I had this happen the first time I tried to boot a backup. I may be wrong, but it seems that 1.5 reads the necessary info from my AR disc when it starts up, because I put in my Mario Party 7 backup, then pushed Boot Game, and it spun up, spun down, spun up again, and detected the game (got the Pal/NTSC/Autodetect screen), I pressed A again and it booted.

YMMV, and I'll test more later, should get back to work :)

That has always been the case...

Even since GCOS v1.0 it has been like that ;)

Forcing some games to run in a certain video mode when they've been specifically set up to run in a different one will kill them. It's inevitable unfortunately...

There is a slightly simpler way to do it WITHOUT hardcoding,

And lets just say emu is reasonably close ;)

More to come as it happens... ;)

[EDIT]: I keep using a lot of winks recently. Must...Stop... ;)
Shadowsan

emu_kidid
12-15-2005, 03:23 AM
Oh, also, if a game is multi-disc, we can do this:
parse the dol file, find instances of lowdvdreset (like dolwin does) then patch them on the fly. then execute.

That has always been the case...

Even since GCOS v1.0 it has been like that ;)

Forcing some games to run in a certain video mode when they've been specifically set up to run in a different one will kill them. It's inevitable unfortunately...

Shadowsan

However a little more can be done to help some games continue, as Qoob has a higher compatability rate when forcing modes.

You might not have to patch the DOL file at all; you could set a breakpoint on CC003024 and write a custom exception handler that calls some callback function (most likely at 80001800) that spins up the drive. It's a kind of a dirty method, but it might be easier than finding the address of dvd_reset for each game.

Whoa! Steady on. I surprised emu_kidid dignified that with such a polite reply, I'd be pretty mad if I was on the other end of that little rant.

GCOS, as I see it, is a BIOS replacement for the GC that enables you to play backups of games. Surely a chipped cube already offers this so you aren't exactly missing out on a great deal. If GCOS has features that Qoob is missing, maybe you should research what you buy a bit better before you buy it, or as emu_kidid said, moan at the Qoob guys.

I think you little outburst is completely unjustified and you need to grow up!

Use GCoS 1.5 (PSO).dol which can be found in GCoS 1.5.rar (the link in the 1st post)

If you use d0lLZ3 to compress it, it will only take up 113KB rather than 313KB on the Max Drive card

Has anyone cracked the Qoob SX nut ?

I would be fantastic if emu_kiddid could enlighten us on how to use the GCOS Qoob SX version that he has uploaded.

Go to gcdev.org and get SDLOAD.

Anyway, I see what you guys are saying about the clock getting messed up in animal crossing... now every time I start the game it's different and I have to correct it (sometimes it's REALLY far out). Anyway, I think you should add that to list of things to do.

I have a question.... since I often use gcos' online capabilities (dol uploading, ripping and so on), but for some reason my router only accepts hardware that have as ip 192.168.2.xxx, everytime I want to upload a dol or rip a game I have to change the ip address from within gcos... now I was wondering, is there a way, with a hexadecimal editor or something, to change the default ip address in gcos?

i figured i should include this in this forum too.

for everyone using gcos 1.5 with ar to cheat on backups, and since gcos only works with ar1.08. put this gci file on your memcard in slot b, it has almost every code up to date. it is missing a select few. you'll have to deal with it or make your own.

Here is all the info to make your own:

It's been a long time since I checked into this stuff... :)

This release looks nice and it's obvious that emu_kidd has put a lot of hard work into it.

I loaded it using SDLoad and I was unable to boot anything from the 'Boot Disc' menu. No original or backup would boot on my NTSC 04 drive cube. Originals would either spin during the "Setting up Drive 04" process, or I would get "media not recognized". The furthest I got with a backup was a DRE screen - mostly just "media not recognized" or black screens. I even tried the 1.4 boot option and it didn't boot my backup.

Backups work perfectly for me with GCOS 1.4. I'm using Office Depot media and I don't get DREs.

I cleaned my laser lens a bit and got a backup to boot. Looks like my laser may be getting weaker (BTW I almost never play backups on it, just my kids playing originals).

so many stuff I can't find and so many posts to go through. I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but will gcos be making bios for the qoob pro? I can't even find 1 post that hosts a bios for qoob pro.

download the archive at the start of this thread, it comes in many flavours, even qoob pro.

Here is the steps using GCoS With AR, I covered only softmod since I have unmoded GC.

Requirements:
Action Replay 1.08 disc (Original!)
1 x 251 Original Nintendo Memory card

Steps:
01. Transfer "GCoS With AR.gci" to MC251 using BBA etc.
02. Insert MC251 to slot B.
03. Insert AR 1.08 disc
04. Power on GC.
05. Select "Action Replay"
06. As requested, open the lid, wait 2 secs, then close the lid.
07. Select "GCoS With Ar.dol"
08. After GCoS 1.5 main menu displayed, CHANGE AR DISC WITH YOUR BACKUP GAME DISC (IMPORTANT!)
09. Select "Misc"
10. Select "Action Replay"
11. On AR Main Menu select "Options", turn "Auto Update" to "Off".
12. Back to AR Main Menu, Select "Action Replay Codes" then your BACKUP GAME TITLE
13. Select cheats you want.
14. Press "Start" button
15. The screen will goes black momentarily then boot your BACKUP GAME!

That's it, folks.

BTW, my GC is DOL-001, US/NTSC, Drive 06.

Pardon my stupidity here but a couple of questions...

1) does it have to be version 1.08? I've got a 1.06 disc myself...
2) what codes am I to be using on the "action replay" "game" to get it to load? i tried copying the DATELCOD.BIN off my normal GCOS card and that just made it hang at black.
3) are there any other alternate methods to get AR code functionality in GCOS? the version 1.5 i have on my card 59 has the AR option but it doesn't do anything.

ok, well you can use AR106 but you'll have to pad the .dol file up to the right size that it expects.

I am having problems with screen alignment - NTSC cube NTSC TV. The GCOS screen is cut off a little on the left side and cut off at the bottom. Normally this wouldnt matter but in the function of Multi Game discs I am un able to see which game is selected to execute. Could you just tell me how to navigate threw the selections? Does it just have game #1 as default then down arrow will go to game #2 etc?

edit* Just figured it out, I was a little tired last night so that might be why I couldnt get it. Just pressing A button will advance one down in the list, just going to toss that out there incase anyone else has problems.

I love the way GCoS has been evolving. I havent played my cube inawhile but just saw a new version so I thought I would try it out. Multi game discs are fun :P

Yes, the .gcb is meant if it's by itself only.

I have also been looking for a way to get GCOS working with Qoob SX. I can run the dol made for Qoob pro. The file name is "GCoS 1.5 (Qoob Pro Internal Flash).dol"

Boots backups and originals, but what I really want to do is get AR working with Qoob SX. I tried integrating AR into GCoS but no luck getting it to boot.

Anyone else have any luck?
