i have this 360, it was an "elite". unfortunately the dvd drive started making weird noises one day (hitachi 0079) and it wasn't under warranty, so i replaced it with a brand new samsung ms28 (spoofed it all with jungleflasher, flashed with ixtreme 1.6 etc..) and now its been about a year since then and i didn't have any problems and i have thrown out the original drive.. i am now trying to replace it with an old hitachi 0047 that i found laying around, it may not be the greatest but it reads both burnt and originals no problem unlike my current samsung which has issues..

anyways long story short, i am replacing a samsung MS28 that was spoofed to show up as a hitachi version 79, with a hitachi 0047. in jungleflasher i dumped the firmware from the samsung, loaded ixtreme 1.51 hitachi47 as target firmware, spoofed source to targer, keys match and it says that it is spoofed as a hitachi 79.... problem is..

when i turn on my 360 and throw in a a game it either thinks its a DVD video disc.. or it says please insert this in an xbox360 console or something liek that.. ive seen this before one time when i forgot to put the right key onto the ixtreme back in the day so it didn't have the right key (once flashed with the proper key worked fine).. but i know for a fact this time it is the proper key because the samsung has the same key and works fine (just very picky what games it wants to read) so why won't this hitachi work?!!

any idea why it would do this?

Are you sure the firmware is the correct version?

well if your adament you flashed it with the correct key and you spoofed it to correct original drive type then it should work.if not,its the laser.your prob is either laser related or firmweare related and you say you put key in so that rules out firmware.

The problem is you are doing the hitachi with Jungleflasher incorrectly.
You need to flash the key sector manually from within the hitachi tab, you dont use firmtool 32 to spoof the firmware simply because you arent flashing an entire firmware image when you flash hitachi drives, you are flashing JUST the sectors needed to make the hacked firmware.
So, easy option is, restore the hitachi you have to stock with jungleflasher (within the hitachi tab of the program) then flash ixtreme to it, then flash the spoof data (choose hitachi 79), then flash the key sector (using your original 79's key).
Do it that way and the drive will work for sure!

If you need any more help with this, join #jungleflasher on efnet and I would be more than happy to help.

You could of just swapped the lasers over from the drives and it would of worked fine

u mean the laser from a samsung ms28 can go into a hitachi47?

yep, hitachi and samsung use same laser they just have an attachment that screws on that is different, that is all.so swapping the lasers round just means unscrewing the attachment and swapping them round on the lasers.
