No more Gears of War on current generation consoles?

The president of Epic games has suggested that there will be no more Gears of War on current generation consoles. Rather the next time we will see a new version of Gears of War is when the next generation of consoles are out and about.

it's clear the console was maxed out with gears2,you can even tell it was struggling in some parts of the game,maybe on next gen xbox they can offer some decent graphics like killzone2 (maybe,maybe not) & more than the shady 5 on 5 online MP.

That's what I think. They've done pretty much all they can with the U3 engine.

But yes, Gears 2 maxed the 360 completly out and even falls to 12fps in some heavy parts.

But, killzone gets the same problems, ive had it drop to under 10fps in single player, and about the same during full matches. You know how bad it sux to have an entire team spawn in frnt of you, you know with 2 grenades you can take most out, but then it bottlenecks and by the time you release a grenade, everyone has dodged it and killed you.

as mentioned in an above post, kz2 does the same thing in certain parts. both systems have similar specs. the ue3 is coming to it's limits so i'm sure epic will want to switch to the new ue4 that is under developement.

I'm always trying to figure out why people have so many jokes about how many Halo games there are. It was always meant to be a trilogy. They're obviously going to keep the series alive one way or another. Why don't people make jokes about Jak/Daxter and Ractchet/Clank. Two games that are essentially the same and have how many out now? I think six each.

Gears has frame drops.
Gears 2 has frame drops.

The PS3 suffers from just as many performance problems. There are many reasons for this. But my two main ones are:

1) Developers have yet to take full advantage of the consoles, UT3 might have been improved along the way but it is a 3 year old engine.

2) These console do not have the spec for HD gaming with the graphics that we expect. Full HD is certainly only available for the select few. When the specs were announced I was shocked at how little RAM there was in them.


My predictions for the next gen of consoles that will probably be able to run everything at 1080p are dual graphics chips with atleast 1GB of RAM between them (probably more) and 2 GB of system RAM.

Known for abandoning?? You realize that this is only their second console and their first one they did not own the hardware design? You can thank nvidia and foxconn for them leaving the original behind so quickly. No platform is going to receive software support if they are not being sold at retail and MS couldn't continue to sell them at a big loss. Sucks for fans of the original but its not entirely MS's fault. Generalizing based on one generation isnt really fair...it would be like saying that Sony has a reputation of overpriced consoles that are too hard to develop for.

i think sony will continue to spiral downward gen after gen.

i already know how much they're banking on the slim to work wonders, but again i doubt it'll change much this gen.
