Activision's UK MD has told a UK trade publication that fans of Call of Duty will not be let down. He noted that Modern Warfare 2 will justify all the hype and excitement the game has continued to receive.

Activision will redefine what constitutes a blockbuster when Modern Warfare 2 lands in just a matter of weeks.

The Call of Duty title is riding a wave of hype and mounting pre-orders.

Many are now saying the third week of November could represent the most lucrative sales spike ever for a single game release.

“Expectations are extremely high and rightly so,” Activision UK MD Andrew Brown told MCV.

“The calibre of the team at developer Infinity Ward and the sheer quality of the game fuels a very positive momentum throughout the marketplace for everything we do in relation to Modern Warfare 2.”

Why is it the more they boast the more I fear failure?

its always the same, the least publicised game is often the superior

Not necessarily true of course, but its the fact that many hyped/mass marketed games have been shown to be a disappointment (e.g. Halo 3)

I was letdown after all the hype the first one got. I don't see how they could live up to the hype this time around.

let down by what exactly?

cod4 is still one of the most played fps games around and still sells very well, cod4 a let down i think not.

As for this having huge hype it's to be expected after the huge one such a big big hit!

I was not impressed with the maps, they were OK.
I had expected some very fancy graphics, but was let down.
Story mode was OK, but very short. But I hated doing yet another tutorial for a CoD game.
Multiplayer was also just OK, but I seemed to get overwhelmed by spamming grenades quite often.
Also the lack of vehicles was a real let down.

Overall it seemed like a dumbed down version of Battlefield 2, which I would still rather play, or at least one of the mods for it like Project Reality or Forgotten Hope. If I am going to play a FPS without vehicles, I would rather play Team Fortress 2.

The PS3 and 360 versions are the same price of the regular games. Though the PC version is priced $10 higher this time.
