It's been a looong time since I have been keeping up with the psp scene. I want to update my psp safely to the newest cfw which seems to be 5.50 from what I can find. I have a phat psp with 3.4OE-A firmware (yeah i know its old!). What is the highest cfw I can safely upgrade to? I am currently waiting for my pandora battery so I can revive or downgrade my psp if any problems occur. Any help or guidance to other threads would be greatly appreciated. Thnx.

oh yeah, the only reason i'm picking up my psp again is because GranTurismo is coming! I heard some people saying you can Time Machine to OFW 6.0 to play 5.55 and above games but does that affect the CFW?

The best think is to wait for a new custom firmware. Maybe 6.00Cfw will out trought same days...for now, update to lastests custom firmware (5.50GEN) mean not playing "any" lastest games.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on waiting for DAX (fingers crossed) to come out with the 6.0CFW. This may be a lil off topic but what are the major differences between m33 and GEN firmwares? Also, someone else posted that they got GT working on 5.50GEN-B....how the h*ll did they do that!?!?!?!

You need to patch the games in UMDgen to get them to work in 5.50Gen-B2 ;)

I'm curious on the major differences between m33 and GEN firmwares as well. It seems a lot of folks are reluctant to move over to GEN but I can't figure out a solid reason why (other than being familiar with m33 and distrusting GEN for some reason).
