Hard modded wii safe to update to 4.1???

I just bought wii motion plus and burned wii sport resort and when I try to play the game, I need to update my system to 4.1. I have a wii with a modchip (cyclowiz or something else...the one with the swith on the back of the wii) and I was wondering if it is safe to update from 3.3E to 4.1.

I also wanted to know if I use the switch on the back of the wii to turn off the chip, can I do the update?

I usually do the update without any problem but everywhere on the net it says that the 4.1 update can brick your wii, I just want to be sure.

I run softmod and have a wiikey. Running 4.1 with no issues.

Ok !!! Now my wii is probably dead and I have no idea what went wrong.
After reading on some places on the net that it was safe to update to 4.1 if I had a wii with a modchip, I finally decided to update it!! Everything went well, the system restarted and the video tutorial of the wiimotion plus started. Right in the middle of the video, the wii started screaming (litterally), emitting a high pitch sound:eek:, so I tried to turn it on the side to see if it would stop but it didn't work and it kept srceaming for 3 minutes until everything went black...:confused:

The wii strated again....ouf...but now the wii is incapable of reading backup or original disc...I think my disc are not spinning anymore because all I hear is clicking noise and no sppining noirse.

So....that's the stiory...does anybody have comments or recommandations on what I should do ? (change the disc drive, **** the drive and use only softmod) and don't say send it back to Nintendo...I don't want to!!

I tried my wii again this morning and guess what... everything was working !!! I played a little bit and after 30 minutes, it started screaming again :mad: and now it is not working again. I still get the click and the disc error thing. Seriously... wtf ??? Does anybody know what is going on ? Is there a conflict between the new update (4.1) and the cyclowiz chip ? Maybe I should try to take off the chip.

I dont want to jack your thread, but I can't post a new one until I hit the 3 mark. Anyways.

I have d2pro installed with 3.3E(or U) can't remember, my installer said I can go to 4.2 but will lose the region free option.

Could anyone confirm this? What do I need to do to get my Pal games going if I do update? region mod the iso (which isn't the most reliable) or do I need to get a softmod and game launcher on there?
