Your lucky with 5.03 you can use ChickHen to access homebrew and ISOs. then if you have an CFW PSP (Phat and early Slim models) then you can install CFW on it.

The latest is DC is DC8 and the latest CFW is 5.50 GEN-B2

Do a search here or google for the files. Here have heaps of links. Check the stickys.

How do we check if it is the early Slim models or later Slim models? :confused:

If you download DC7 (Or the latest DC8) it contains instructions, also there are stickies and tutorials on this forum, as well as easily searchable (Google) tutorials for the creation of a Magic Memory Stick, as well as a pandora, normally i would be quite abrasive with this kind of question and i would reply with "Go fu*king Google it" however:

You have three options:

ChickHEN (HEN Environment) + CFWe (Custom Firmware Enabler, from within the HEN environment)
Magic Memory Stick (Google: Rain's Ultimate MMS Maker) + Pandora battery
ChickHEN (Hen Environment) + HellCat's flasher

I suggest you attempt the 3rd option (ChickHEN + HellCat's flasher) first, I think it would be the easiest option for you.

Some information on HellCat's recovery flasher:

A tutorial on how to install M33 firmware from official firmware using HellCat's flasher:

PSP-2000 MODEL WITH THE TA-88v3 MOTHERBOARD CANNOT RUN CUSTOM FIRMWARE AT THIS TIME!
PSP-3000 MODEL CANNOT INSTALL CUSTOM FIRMWARE AT THIS TIME!
(CUSTOM FIRMWARE CAN BE RUN VIA HEN, BUT IT CANNOT BE INSTALLED)
What I'm looking for is information on PSP-2000 units. If you've purchased a PSP-2000, please list the box code letter. It's almost impossible to find this information on the net, I figured it was time to start a thread about this.

Limited Edition & New Boxstyle:
Star Wars Limited Edition (TA-085)(CONFIRMED)
Simpsons Limited Edition (TA-085)(CONFIRMED)
Daxter Limited Edition Pack (TA-85v2/3.80 OFW)(CONFIRMED)
God of War Limited Edition Pack (TA-88v2/3.95 OFW)(CONFIRMED)
Madden 09 Limited Edition Pack (TA-88v2/3.95 OFW & TA-88v3/4.01 OFW)(CONFIRMED)
Piano Black with the New Box Style (TA-88v3)(UNCONFIRMED)
Piano Black (Amazon.com)(TA-88v3)(PARTIALLY CONFIRMED)

PSP-2000 Original Boxstyle Box Codes (Thanks to Alek @ Dark-AleX.org):
(No Letter) = 3.60
A = 3.71
B = UNKNOWN
C = 3.72
D = UNKNOWN
E = 3.80
F = 3.90
G = 3.95 / 4.01 (TA-88v2 / TA-88v3)
A PSP with G and the 4.01 firmware is most likely a TA-88v3 motherboard, so it is advised that you stay away from them.

PSP-2000 Motherboard Information:
TA-85 (Can use and make Pandora Battery)
TA-85v2 (Can use, but cannot make Pandora Battery)
TA-88v2 (Can use, but cannot make Pandora Battery)
TA-88v3 (Cannot use or make Pandora Battery)

PLEASE HELP! MANY PEOPLE ARE LOOKING TO MAKE PURCHASES WITH THIS INFORMATION! IF YOU FIND INFORMATION, LINK TO THE SOURCE AND POST IT!

There seems to be 2 parts to serials, the P-number and the S-number:

The P number seems to (possibly) be regional and stays the same across a batch of consoles. The S-number is the serial number as shown inside the battery compartment.

I'm thinking maybe we could build a list of serial numbers against Original Firmware version? Unless there's already one out there somewhere? So to get things moving here's some real samples that have been through my hands, the final two digits and letter obscured for anonymity...

These are all UK/Eire spec European consoles

PSP-2003PB
Regional ID = CEK
Box Letter = A
Date Code = 7D
8 digit P-number = 27401019
7 digit serial = 03835XX
OFW = 3.71

PSP-2003PB
Regional ID = CEK
Box Letter = ?
Date Code = ?
8 digit P-number = 27401019
7 digit serial = 05310XX
OFW = 3.80

PSP-2003PB
Regional ID = CEK
Box Letter = ?
Date Code = ?
8 digit P-number = 27401019
7 digit serial = 05501XX
OFW = 3.90

PSP-2003PB
Regional ID = CEK
Box Letter = F
Date Code = 8A
8 digit P-number = 27401019
7 digit serial = 05893XX
OFW = 3.90

PSP-2003PB
Regional ID = CEK
Box Letter = G
Date Code = 8B
8 digit P-number = 27401019
7 digit serial = 06643XX
OFW = 3.90

PSP-2003PB
Regional ID = CEK
Box Letter = G
Date Code = 8C
8 digit P-number = 27401019
7 digit serial = 07583XX
OFW = 4.01

As you can see, for this region of consoles (other regions might have different blocks of serial numbers reserved) if your serial number is 06643XX or below you should be good to flash :thumbs:
If your serial is 07583XX or higher then sorry!

Hope this helps - any other contributions would help narrow it down, especially for other regions of the world.

And, let’s make a last one! What about a quick boxcode list for the ofw that are inside? For the Phat models (01g):

1. A = 1.50
2. B = 1.51
3. C = 1.52
4. D = 1.52
5. E = 1.52

17. Q = 3.30
18. R = 3.40
19. S = 3.50
20. T = 3.51
21. U = 3.52

Now for the Slim & Lite (02g);

1. (No letter) = 3.60
2. A = 3.71
3. B = 3.71
4. C = 3.72
5. D = 3.73
6. E = 3.80
7. F = 3.90
8. G = 3.95 / 4.01
9. H = 3.95 / 4.01
10. I = 4.01
11. J = 4.05

And for the 3k models (03g);

1. (No letter) = 4.20
2. A = 4.20/4.21
3. B = ??
4. C = 5.02
5. D = ??
6. E = ??
