View Full Version : PSP Go already gets price cut in UK, but it's not official
It's only been a few days since the release of the PSP Go and its already getting an unofficial price cut in the UK. Numerous reports indicate that a number of retailers have already slashed 25UKP off of the price of the system already!

Barely three days after its launch, the PSPgo has already received a £25 price cut at major retailers such as Amazon.co.uk, Game.com, HMV.com and Play.com.
The PSPgo system features a sleek pocket-sized design that's more than 50 percent smaller and more than 40 percent lighter than the original PSP-1000. PSPgo incorporates a sliding screen that is both practical for the system's space-saving design and aesthetically appealing. The PSPgo system is designed for the portable digital lifestyle, offering 16GB of internal flash memory to store plenty of games, videos, music, and photos. The system also offers expandable storage through a slot that fits a Memory Stick Micro, an ultra-small card the size of a thumbnail with a current capacity of up to 16GB. The current PSP-3000 and the UMD® format will continue to be available, providing consumers with the option to choose the PSP that's right for them.

You're not serious are you? I live in the US and it's quite clear that not just the UK but all of the EU get's constantly ***** by sony.... and ms.... and ninty. I'm happy that they are getting something good, just wished it was something more meaningful. I mean psp go? I doubt that £25 off will do any wonders for the go's sales data, but at least they aren't getting shafted like usual.

And I still wouldn't waste my money on this turd. They realized it was shite when it came out and had to drop the price immediately to try to save face.

Depends if you're getting a deal or not but in general using lets say game uk vs eb us.
£60.00 GBP = $95 and the states are paying what $99 at full price? (game has it at £50 now though $80)
Next a £137 Xbox 360 arcade = $220 that's $20 higher than the same package at EB games
Now a PSP GO is £200 since discount and that's $320 ($360 without unofficial discount) the usa is paying $250.
Comparing a PS3 here it's £250 which equals $400 when they're paying $299.

Same here, plus they also released it to combat piracy, as they failed on the previous PSP hardware big time. In addition, its also a money making strategy on the consumer for christmas together with the PS3 slim. Just release the one model and **** all this downsizing crap and have all the necessary features to begin with.
It makes you wanna rip em of with piracy more, as they are ripping you off all the time with this bullshit.

The last time I saw a console this useless was the GBA micro. At least with that, Nintendo knew it was useless and didn't make a ton of them. I'm yet to see Sony not eat their own BS and not feel it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm sure there is some one over there, sitting in his comfy office chair, smugly thinking to himself that the Go is so awesome that everyone in the world needs two, and they should produce it accordingly.

That someone has a name, Kaz Hirai. Just look at his job description and think about it... this has to be his idea since he's the only one that seems to end up on stage to announce the bad prices he even comes with his own flat depressed performance to make you feel sorry for him.

I wouldn't take this piece of crap even if they gave it to me free of charge.First of all its to small and I'm sure over time my hands will develop carpal tunnel syndrome. Sony should just face the truth ..that they fucked up big time by producing this crap.

So now it's £65 more for less instead of £90. PSP pricing has always been a joke, but the Go takes the crown, officially £30 less than a PS3, £90 than the PSP 3000 and £40 more than even the original PSP launch price.
This gen there have been standards set for the wrong reasons, MS with low hardware reliability, Sony with stupidly high pricing and arrogance, and nintendo with the most expensive default controller pricing on a console. makes me wonder what sort of idiots they have running these companies, seems like it's 3 monkeys to me.

Problem with what you have done is that it does not take into account the discounts a retailer might be running or promotions to shift stock. Official price of arcade 360 is £160 in the U.K. and $200 in the U.S. thats $56 less than U.K. price when converted.
So Microsoft is screwing us as hard as the rest its the retalier who is doing us a favour. Never thought I would say that about game lol.

Now that is nasty, seriously someone at Sony needs to do a reality check on pricing as that can do them some serious damage. 360 unreliability is somthing people hear about, and while I'm not saying this is on the same level of bad, this is right out there where everyone can see it for themselves.
The PSP and PS3 could have been ruling the roost now, but Sony and their rediculous pricing is only doing damage to the brand image. One of my more cynical friends made a valid point of how it seems that someone at Sony seems to want the Playstation line to die with all this idiotic pricing. while I'm not that cynical somthing is definelty not right, especailly when this is meant to compete with the DS/I.

It is very hard to judge i completely agree the retailer is king here they don't seem willing to meet the RRP great for us. Perhaps a majority compare would of been better for fairness but i dont know of many USA online stores. GAME being decent on price for once is quite a shocker hehe.
Since my 360 went down the crapper on sunday im sitting here waiting for parcel force and all this talk of xbox is making me impatient, occasionally turning on the old one to look at the silly flashing lights :p
