PSM 3 has concluded that FIFA 10 is better than PES 2010 but just by 1 percent! The magazine calls the new 360 degree dribbling PES as mis-leading but compliments the slower pace of the game-play.

The first PES 2010 review is in via the pages of PSM3 Magazine, which crowns FIFA 10 (very marginally) this year's winner.

"After the arcade excesses of PES 09, [PES 2010 is] a welcome return to simulation roots," says the mag, which awards PES 2010 a respectable 89% - 1% less than FIFA 2010.

"If you were disappointed by PES 09, and converted to FIFA in exasperation, this is a welcome return to form," it says.

However, PES 2010's positives are riddled with 'buts' and minor gripes, says the mag: "The Champions League is a major coup but its barely evolved since 09, and the poor licensing means that only about 80% of the teams are accurate.

"The Europa League is another key addition but its only playable in Master League and not standalone. The licensed soundtrack includes classic tracks from DJ Shadow, Stereophonics and Black Kids but it feels a bit two years ago in contrast to FIFA 10s edgy, if slightly incongruous, line-up."

PES 2010's new 360 dribbling is called "misleading" ("its more 16-way movement, but way more subtle than PES 09") but PSM3 compliments the game's general slower pace of play, which it says liberates slower, physical players like Berbatov while still allowing you to dribble past a man with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

fifa 10 is just light years ahead of pes2010, and those who say pes is better are just delusional pes nuthuggers.

Lightyears being 1% better. Also you can edit the game, so this statement "and the poor licensing means that only about 80% of the teams are accurate." Can be 100% accurate afer editing!

I had Fifa 07, 08 and 09.

Pes 2007 on 360 was good 08 and 09 were not.

I played the 2010 demo and I prefer it to Fifa.

FIFA always got better scores because of presentation. And those EA fans who buy because of a name. Fifa 10 is A BIG disappointment to me.
PES is the only option in my mind this time around.
I also liked the music!

As an outsider when it comes to football/soccer and soccer/football games, I liked the PES demo better.

Seriously Zues. What the hell is up with all this FIFA ****? It seems like it's all you talk about lately just like you use to when the last GTA came out.

PES + Editing superb better than FIFA.

But, this FIFA 2010 seem more better from previous FIFA. Then I agree with PSM. Unfortunately, the game is slow, lagging, stupid menu & interface on my PSP. Didn't try PC & console yet.

I hope PES can defeat FIFA 10 when it out.

wrathchild,

It's probably news worthy on account of it being one of the biggest selling games every single year. People of many countries love football. As far as football games are concerned there are only 2 contenders PES and FIFA. Fifa pretty much always sells better than PES. Apples and oranges whichever camp you prefer. It'll sell millions now and probably be in the top 3 games sold (outside of America) right until Christmas and quite probably across the whole year. The only game to knock it off will be COD 6 (probably), COD 6 will get as much coverage if not more so if you're annoyed by certain games hogging the centre stage then it's time to migrate until the Christmas period has passed.
It's almost a foregone conclusion that only 3-5 games will be at the top of every wish list this year.
Sure it's unfair to all the other decent games bubbling under, but whichever way you look at it, it's newsworthy.

Played the PS3 PES 2010 demo and had a few matches on FIFA 2010 (both demo and full game). FIFA just feels awful compared to last years game (which was nothing special) The players throw themselves on the floor all the time on step ins, the shooting is awful, the referees are so inconsistent with X rated challenges.

As I play more and more of the new FIFA I just feel the A.I. is awful. Its easy for the opponent to dribble the ball back half the pitch before passing and sometimes they run diagonally straight off the pitch for no reason. And from kick off I can out dribble the whole opposition.

I can't compare much to last years FIFA as only played the demo as I buy PES and FiFA in alternate years normally. I just hope the A.I. is not also lacking on PES though the licenses and modes are really good in FIFA.

PES is nothing more than an arcade mockup of football, and that is all it will ever be. Sure it can be fun to play, but its not football.... sorry!

Fifa at least tries to simulate the real thing, not without some flaws however.

Well obviously wouldn't be able too on that level, hopefully the A.I. would prevent that. But my point is on all difficulty settings that should be a fluke and not quite easy to do all the time.
