I've been pretty bored lately and decided to dig up some old games I was interested in during the 90s (be warned - I was only 13 in 1999, so my knowledge may be blurry). I remember having one of those free demos the old PS1 magazines used to give out (my love for Star Ocean 2 sprang from one of these demos) and I remember watching the intro for a game called Vampire Hunter D. Never watched any film/anime to do with it, but I do remember it looking distinctly cool. However I remember it getting 3/10 in said freebie giving magazine.
Basically - is it any fun? I've sniffed around and it seems peoples views of it are a little unbalanced (from "it's awesome!" to "it sucks BAD") so I thought I'd ask here. I'll probably give it a try anyway (the artwork is pretty).
So - which pops I should play it on? Does it work ok on PSP?
Cheers.

Vampiere Hunter D NTSC SLUS-01138 run on 3.02 popstation.
The game is fully playable. This doesn't mean that everything will be perfect but as far as we know, you should be able to complete the game.

It ran perfectly on 5.00 when I played it for an hour (I posted as such on the PSX PSP compatibility list) - I remember it been alright - I think it's one of those thiongs where if you know the characters and have seen some of the anime it would probably be more enjoyable, hat said it was pretty self-explained, looked good, was voiced and the gameplay was alright, I would say it's worth a try :)
Oh and the icon1.pmf for it on popsdb isn't for the game but actually for one of the films/shows and even comes up with a different title at the end of the vid as a heads up (it irked me lol) :p

Thanks guys - I assumed the PMF off Popstation Imagepacks was from one of the films (the later one I think). At first I thought it had no sound, but it's just really quiet. Any chance you could so a PMF, Casper88 :P The intro is pretty noice. I added some stuffs to the Vampire Hunter D bit on popsdb by the way.
Another problem guys -

This is the Y-screen position of the game when in-game - the beginning FMVs are perfectly fine (the thick black bar doesnt appear on the bottom). When I use pal2uk/Zapper to make the screen more centralised, still doesn't work - the black bar at the bottom just engulfs half the screen. This is a picture taken with the screen set on Normal - when I zoom, of course, because it's not centralised, bottom bit disappears. I believe I'm playing the NTSC version and that screenie was taken on 5.00. The default Y position is 44,16. I changed it to 51,16 which didn't really work.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'll send you a PM about how I made mine and had no borders, for fear of getting banhammered (even though guys Rayman thread is still goin, lol)
I'll get on to doing an ICON1/SND0 for it (I did an SND0 of the credits song, was before I had the tools to make .pmf's though), probably be tomorrow I do it though if you can wait a day or two mate.
Think I'll get a hold of some of the manga before I give this game a run :)
EDIT: Just made the ICON1/SND0 for it now, was a quick easy job - took a while to find the OST for the game though, ended up dl'in the entire soundtrack someguy had ripped from the game itself. It's here (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showpost.php?p=1180349&postcount=1600) :)

I've watched the film tonight, and I think the film is basically the same plot as the game (just in case you were going to watch it, because it WILL spoil the game for you). I had a quick run around and the game reminds me a lot of Galerians (flawed, but awesome gem).
It's based on a trilogy of Japanese horror novels, isn't it? Like Parasite Eve I think.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll play the game first then I think, iirc it was pretty survival horror-meets action (like a less polished Onimusha style gameplay), so it's on my to play list. I also snagged your PIC1 from popsdb btw for when I remake my EBOOT :)
Oh, also I had completely forgotten that I made a document.dat walkthrough with maps etc as well and uploaded it to popsdb :P
