Ready at Dawn (developers of God of War) have sparked news of a new console in the works as their latest job posting indicates they need more staff to support an 'un announced console platform'.

According to a job listing on their website. Ready at Dawn, the developers behind God of War: Chains of Olympus, Daxter, and the Wii port of the critically acclaimed Okami, are currently looking for “a few additions to our engine team in order to add support for an unannounced console platform.”

With the fact that Ready at Dawn have shown the most support for the PSP, there is a chance that they are looking for someone to work on PSP2 development.

Since the PS3, 360, and Wii are already saturating the market; pulling all stops trying to steal each other's installed base. I has to be the PSP2.

Would be great if Sega was to bring out a new console. I really can't see it being PSP2, Sony as only just released the pointless PSP GO!

Yeah, how pissed would you be if you had just bought a PSP Go and they announced PSP2? I was pissed when they announced 360 Elite and I'd had my normal 360 for donkeys!

Whats the difference? I'm not being sarcastic, I really never understood the difference between arcade and elite. the both play 360 games right?

Its whats included in the box thats the difference. when I got my pro in 06 the difference was:
HD cables (component over composite)
20GB HDD (over 64mb MC)
wireless controller (over wired)
long ethernet cable
and I suppose the chrome DVD drive looks nicer.

i bet its the ps3slim go.

it will feature no bluray drive. a 160gb hdd. it will also feature composite cables and 802.11b wireless integrated.

sony will send out vouchers to download 3 indie/arcade games that expire the second you download them.

god of war go will be the first launch title for the new completely backwards incompatible (also to ps3 games) console.

all of you that think theres hope for a new sega console, sorry to say but keep dreaming. There absolutely is no chance sega will come back to the console market.

There were talks way back when of Apple starting a console. I would have to assume its that Apple.

wow...lets see... ps3 is a money pit... this has playstation in the title and go just came out...
ps3 still cant beet xbox 360 in graphics and blu-ray still hasnt proved to be needed. not to mention ps3 isnt capable of running 60 fps 1080p games.

The word engine... is probably the key. We know epic is working on unreal 4. So its probably ps3.5 (ps4 actually, but sony will take the wii approach). I mean really... what team is hiring for psp games  more less a engine needed to play them.

Though main difference was HDMI port, which was the only real idfference everything else could be bought instore if you wanted so can't really compare, games themselves did not change.

My money is on Nintendo DS2,but PSP2 is also likely, We'll probably see the next version of their console this time next year so production on games would have already started for a select few developers. If it's a launch title they are aiming for they'll need 12 months to get the game finished.

To tell you the truth, I would hate it if Apple got into the video game home console market.

I admit that I didn't think Microsoft would make it at first, but they proved me wrong. But Apple?

Sure, they've got the funding, but why branch out into a console war with 3 big names already going at it? Not to mention, Nintendo is on that whole "casual gamer" thing, which is where I think Apple would try to focus on, should they try to get into the console game.

If anything, they should try for the handheld game console market. Yeah, Nintendo's there (and Sony), but I think they'd have a much better chance.

[Unless they had some super secret development project for years, making silent deals with developers, and had some awesome hardware that would put most gaming PCs to shame. That would be 'effin sweet. Or better yet, a partnership with Sega/Sammy to do it.]

i disagree, i would like to see nintendo bring out a next gen console that actually has next gen graphics.

and the sega comment, that would rule. i'd love to see sega come out with another console out of nowhere. the sega revelation LOL

I don't know what you're getting at here but you sound like a delusional fanboy spouting out nonsense; or is my sarcasm meter broken?

for those wondering. This has no specific connection to Playstation. Ready at dawn are not Sony owned they are third party who have worked on wii and psp and yes they are making an engine for 360, PS3 and PSP. The only reason people seem to think that it must be a new sony console is because they co-made GoW with SCE Santa Monica (GoW is a SCE Santa Monica game). This "un-announced console" could be anything; xbox720, WiiHD, or any other unofficial console name you can come up with.

Apple couldn't make a competative console if their current approach is anthing to go by. It would be slightly better hardware than the wii, with a nice flashy case and cost 2x as much as a launch PS3 :D

well onlive has already been announced really, but it's also not really a platform in the sense that it's a PC that is simply somewhere else. Never heard of this Phantom though

*searches Google frantically*

edit:
just checked out the Phantom standardising a PC as a console sounds like a good idea I guess but what sort of repercussions would it have on the open PC platform in terms of development.

the phantom has been in "developement" since 2003 i doubt it will ever see the light of day tough,i was looking forward to the console back then and
tried to get in the beta, but nothing happend...

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2909314.html

then in 2005 it came back all of a sudden, but disapeared again quite quickly;i was annoyed again...

so i don't see it coming in the near future:p

The phantom is long gone just look at the CEO's comment on the wiki you'll know why it's always been vaporware.

You wouldn't need to create an engine for onlive it's not a console or a local hardware platform all the processing is done remotely, effectively its a latency controlled video delivery service which still requires a PC capable of dealing with SD and HD video with up to an 8mbit internet connection.

This is most likely the Tegra based nintendo handheld or the next incarnation of the xbox.

I going to change my vote. The new Nintendo handheld has been some new lately.
