View Full Version : Homeland security testing Wii balance board for airport security plan
The department of Homeland Security has confirmed that it is testing the Wii balance bard as port of possible plans for airport security. More specifically for future attribute screening technology. But it is just one of many technologies that they are trying out.
<blockquote>Speaking to IncGamers, a senior advisor to the Department of Homeland Security from the White House has said that although tests are being undertaken, no airport in the US currently using the balance board.
"We are testing the balance board as part of a suite of technology being utilised for FAST (Future Attribute Screening Technology)," said Amy Kudwa.
"This is just one of the things we're trailing and is just a prototype at the moment out of a range of ideas we have," Kudwa went on to say.</blockquote>

For those of you wondering what the hell, the Wii has anything to do with airports, here is your answer.
FAST will enable the guard to see if you are an terrorist by making you do a series of tests, much like the old days of the cops getting you to walk along a white line, and rub your tummy and touch your nose to see if you were to drunk to drive:
The new screening technology measures pulse rate, skin temperature, breathing, facial expression, body movement, pupil dilation, and additional cues to see if you are a terrorist, or have intentions of causing harm. The technology would mostly be used at airports, and special events.

So if the Balance Board detects you're lop-sided, you're a terrorist? Man, people with canes are going to be upset.

Sounds like a load of bollocks to me... What if the person is intimidated? Nervous? Or on drugs? Are they a terrorist?

Like I said 2 weeks ago when this was posted..
I have a severe axziety problem in crowds.. much less an airport. and so do thousands of others. So does that mean I can never take a plane without overdosing myself on my meds beforehand or im a terrorist?
I mean, My nerves go haywire if someone knocks on my door... much less security and dogs swarming around me.
I guess there are about 4 people using the Zeus account now.

you people are retarded.
All they are using it for is a pre screening tool. If they see you are gittery or a certail level more gittery than the average traveler... they may look to check you out further...thats all..
Its not different than someone looking at you, seeing you look a little off and doing the same thing.
It is not a terrible thing. It is just another tool for trying to prevent any securty breaches.
Drugs, weapons, illegal cargo, terrorist ALL OF THEM. not just terrorists are prohibited on planes.
