View Full Version : FW update? Original WiiKey

I have a chipped Wii (original WiiKey)

I've not played it for a few months. Switched on this morning and obviously theres been a few updates recently (Sept & Oct).

Am I safe to update?

Up to now the updates have never affected the WiiKey. I think I had to upgrade the WiiKey firmware once.

Am I OK to just do a Wii update now?

the latest firmware for the wiikey v1 is 1.9s and it works fine on 4.2. You just have to run the config disc and enable all the options and I recommend the 3x speed.

WiiKey 1.9s update broke the Audiofix for Gamecube games.

Wii firmware 4.2 broke WiiKey config disk 1.3 and regionfree.

TC you may be better of just installing the missing IOS wads and using WiiSCU to get the latest games/shop channel working:

Im on 1.9s but im aware of the problems, i dont think we will see a fixed version ever.
