Shocking news here. An 18 year old teenager has told Hull crown court then he flew into a fit of rage after losing a football game on his computer and then went out on an incredibly violent quest. Armed with an axe and knife, he eventually went on to break into the home of an elderly widow and smashed her numerous times with the axe. But the big question here is are the video games just being used as an excuse? Most definitely.

Deranged James Callaghan, 18, from Hull, flew into a rage, armed himself with an axe and long-bladed knife and embarked on a murderous orgy of violence, Hull crown court was told.

After terrorising several local people, he smashed his way into the home of widow Irene Roberton, 65, striking her six times on the head, twice in the stomach and six times in the back with the axe.</blockquote>

A teenager who killed a Hull woman with an axe has been committed to hospital under the Mental Health Act.

Irene Roberton was found dead at her home in Euston Close, off Anlaby Road, on 28 December last year.

James Callaghan, 18, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Hull Crown Court heard psychiatric assessments concluded Callaghan was suffering from a severe mental illness, likely to be paranoid schizophrenia.

He can only be released with the approval of either the home secretary or an independent panel chaired by a judge.

it wasnt because he lost a game, jesus this kid was very sick and was a pain in the arse i didnt know him literraly but i live near him and he was a nut job.

You know that, anyone with an IQ >1 can think that but the media wants to cause an argument to get readers/viewers.

Video games are just the modern version of "video nasties".
