The developers of Gran Turismo 5 have confirmed that the game will feature a track editor. This means that it will be possible to rebuild a track from scratch of even edit existing tracks in Gran Turismo 5.

With the recent rumors and videos that have been going around about Gran Turismo 5 having a track editor, we decided to contact the developers to find out if it was true or not. Now, we have a official answer.

They were kind enough to give us a quick response and this is what a representative said:(Take note, translated from Japanese.)

“Yes it will have a track editor. You will be able to rebuild a track from scratch or edit the tracks that are already put in Gran Turismo 5.”

Is this in game or PC based? I hope either both or the latter since I find built in editors to be more of a pain.

PS3 supports mice and keyboards within it's SDK.

I imagine that those will be used extensively.

I'm waiting for the first person to put together the Mount Haruna down hill run made famous in Initial D as Akina.

I am happy about the delay, if it means I get a track editor and more content then it's win win. Plenty of games to be playing in the meantime till release anyway :D

This game is going to be Awesome, also have you heard that the graphics are going to be in real 3D, not sure if they mean in the whole game or in a special mode that you can unlock, i can't believe it, a track editor as well now.

ok if this is true i gonna need a PS3 just for that one game and sorry but i have to say F*CK FORZA 3...

Why? because Forza 3 feels like playing Forza 2 with a few new textures and a little more DLC Tracks&Cars. The biggest improvement are the Car Interriors and they are the worst interriors i've seen in a game for years (they look good, but they feel wrong).
But mainly it just feels like playing the same **** again. I drive the same cars, i drive the same Tracks that allready bored me to death in part 2. The AI is still as bad...
There are NO new tuning parts for the existing cars (even the Honda CRX is still missing the Sideskirts, just like in Forza 2!)
I did not see any new liveries on the Cars, just a lot that were allready in Forza 2.
I counted 22 Tracks, 12 of them were in Forza 2. I was told a few more were even taken from Forza 1.

So what did they do all the time? New Textures, a few new (mostly boring) Cars & maybe a handfull of Tracks, a lot of Cockpits, and not to forget a completely new Mainmenu.

Dont get me wrong, i dont say that Forza 3 is a bad Game, i would never go back to Forza 2 now that i have it.
BUT i got very bored with the Tracks in Forza 2 and stoped playing it because of that, now i have to drive them all again in Forza 3? No thanks!

And now you tell me GT5 will have a Trackeditor which effectively means UNLIMITED new Tracks from the community? YAY NEED!!!!
Oh and i never played GT1-4 before so it will be completely new Content for me, even if they also recycle their old stuff and i am sure they do.

im with you sero but in opposite
i played all the GT series
and this new GT is becoming more of a pain in the ass in waiting

on the other hand i never played any FORZA games
so this forza 3 is sweet for me on the 360

**** #GT i say they are assholes in keeping us PS3 owners waiting
wasnt it supposed to be out on release date ?!?!?

joke if u ask me

its all about supply n demand

No. Only Ps3 exclusive. It is still a rare masterpiece exclusivity. Always greatest.

I wasn't referring to the game, I was referring to the level editor.

Jealousy much? Shut your clap-trap.Just wait until Gran Turismo 5 is actually out. He'll be like, "W-Well... it uh... it still doesn't have XBL Gold where you get to pay to use the online multiplayer portion of the game. That's what's real gaming is all about."

Im soo looking forward to the release of this game, im looking forward to every aspect of it.
Im just annoyed at the constant push back for release dates, as of typing gamestation UK states 301 days before release and amazon have removed a release date completely :'(
Anyone know where to find a reliable source for release dates at all? :(

EDIT: Ive just looked, play.com have it listed for the 5th march 2010.
Anyone able to shed any light on an actual release date? lol
