According to reports, Satoru Iwata has mentioned the possibility of the DS adapting an 'always on' 3G connection for the DS and also any other future Nintendo handhelds. However, Nintendo has always had a focus on cost over functionality, so this could limit such a development.

In an interview to the Financial Times, Satoru Iwata mentioned adapting aspects of the Amazon Kindle, including an 'always on' 3G connection for the DS, or any other subsequent Nintendo handhelds.
Nintendo have always maintained not to go down the route of mobile phone technology and their main intention is aimed towards an 'entertainment device'.
Although an interesting concept, Nintendo's policy has always been cost over functionality. Will nintendo back out for a less expensive option, as they did with the DSi's camera?
