Hi,

I am just after some guidance please as, things seemed to have moved on quite alot since I was here last.

I am currently running a PAL Wii with WiiKey1.9s, so far I have an updated Homebrew Channel and also I have installed the BootMii so that I get the pre-loader screen to (Wii System Menu + Homebrew + System /Restore Options).

I have also installed the Updated Channels using WiiSCU, and all seem fine.

However I am still running the 3.2E Wii system.

From reading other articles here it looks like the next step I need to do is disable updates, I noticed I can block updates using my WiiKey, is this all I need to do ? or must I install some other apps also please ?

I have noticed some mention installing DOP-IOS, is this needed too

I am planning on doing a full system backup using the pre-loader once I get a large enough SD card, has anyone tried this and done a restore from it yet please ?

Thanks in advance for any help

you need a 1GB card for the bootmii backup.

there are two methods to block updates, starfall is my favourite although preloader is also useful and I dont know about 3.2 but apparently for 4.x you can get codes which blocks online updates (never tested it).

DONT update to system menu 4.2, its a useless update which removes bootmii and screws up some homebrew.

Use DOP ios to install IOS:
38
46
53
55
56
57

you may also want to install CIOS. I recommend doing a bootmii backup before anything else to prevent bricks.

Many thank for posting so quick.

I got a 4gb card on the way so I'll wait for that so I can so backup before I do anything else as you have suggested.

I think I may of had an older version of CIOS installed but wil update to latest version CIOS38.rev14 and installed IOS249, as it suggests.

I have had a look at starfall and it implies it works with 3.2E so I'll give it a go too http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_apps/Starfall#Information

Cheers for the info

Has it gotten to the stage that you can only play the newer game back-ups using softmod methods.

Is there any modchips out there that can play them?

I'd like to know this too. My kids play the wii, and it's gotta be simple.

Hi

I see you on the 360 forums and wondered if you know how to update the shop channel on 3.2U. I did it back a while ago and have been out the wii scene for a while and could not find any info on this except 4xx Fw for some reason and the shop wont work now.

Cheers.
