So I turned on my xbox today and it boots up but its making a ton of noise, like the fans are on full power. I start a game and shortly after it powers off. Any ideas?
Now it turns on with 2 red rings and powers right off...

Maybe the thermal sensor is damaged. Try moving the 360 e.g. to the middle of the room in case its just bad ventilation.

or more likely MS didnt take the plastic off the thermal pad before they applied the heatsink.
Best idea is to remove and replace with good quality arctic silver.

They do indeed do that , had three previous consoles that needed repairing, someone forgot to remove the pad cover when assembled.
Could be a poor contact with the heatsink or even too much paste can cause an overheat.
