This is no replacement for live, it should only work for games that have LAN play.

This would be awesome to have someone actually setup a code for people to play games for FREE. This is how the internet was started, we just need a company to back free game play, then Live will be a thing of the past. Lets think about this, there are SOOOO many consoles out there that are banned, so there is a market for it. Plus they have already been modded, which means someone has access to mod them, so all we need is a little coding, and a few servers going. Maybe get some advertisers to pay for the service. This could be a cash cow.

You forgot to mention the money needed to pay lawyers for M$ lawsuits.

How about using XLINK KAI for XBOX 360 for multiplayer gaming?

Currently, I believe the 360 disconnects to any LAN games if the ping is greater than 30ms, so I dont think xlink kai can work for many people.

WTF? surely most peoples pings are below that? Mine's 19ms & I'm on a fairly standard cable broadband 20mg line.

Could not get xlink to work last week. But games like MW2 supports 18 LAN support I think.

Anyone want to try this now and see if it does work? I know that xlink kia isn't stable enough to run.

I use Xlink Kai and it works great. Just make sure that when you create or join a room, it's people in your local area. When I create a room, I put the town where I live or the area cod in the description.

Also, some things to make sure of:

1) A static IP on your Xbox isn't required, but helps if you need to forward port 30000.

2) Dropping your Xbox into your DMZ also helps, but this should be a last resort type of thing.

4) Whatever system you have Kai on, it's recommended that it have a wired connection to your router. Though wireless works on my laptop, my ping time jumped just enough to exclude me from some games.

5) I was able to pretty much install Kai and go, no problems, but I RTFM! Yeah. I read the guides and was playing in about 15 minutes.

i was never a fan of kai. i always prefered XBC ( xbconnect.com ) over kai my self

lol. Harsh, no? Most likely its just a false positive man. It's likely the way its communicating with homebase to establish connections that brought up this flag.

no actually my statement was not harsh, AVG is renowned for giving false positives to just about every thing it comes into contact with. remove AVG and install some proper anti virus software, such as comodo or pay for some such as nod32 or kaspersky
