View Full Version : EA: Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a Modern Warfare 2 rival
EA has stated that Battlefield Bad Company 2 has every right to view itself as a rival to Modern Warfare 2. What do you think on that statement? Can Bad Company 2 come close to Modern Warfare 2?

And if EA CEO John Riccitiello's prediction comes true, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 could rival Infinity Ward's massively anticipated shooter. The original Battlefield was a solid and nicely accomplished FPS and developer DICE has already said to expect a bigger and better sequel. Although the entire world seems to be MW2-crazy right now, EA wants to remind everyone that somewhere, lurking in the background shadows, they've got a project that might just surprise you with its bad-ass-ness. According to PS3Center citing a Q2 conference call with Riccitiello, the EA boss said- "I think [Bad Company 2] has every right to see itself as a rival to the number one FPS game that one of one of our competitors is releasing next week." Ironically, there was a time back in 2007 when PS3 owners were really down on EA (for a variety of reasons) but now, Activision is in the doghouse and EA has really produced some stellar titles this generation.

yes, this is a game, rather than just running round try to look cool on the score board theres an objective,if you dont carry it out you lose.
bigger battlefield, more vehicles, just soo much to do and see.
i just hope they support it with extra content in the future,bc was not suppoerted like they should have, they released 1943 to get more money and then they release bc2.

If its on par with the first one it wont rival it...it will exceed it. I loved the first one, reminded me of the old war comics when I was kid like SGT Rock, The Loosers, etc...humor and gameplay...a good combo. MW was great on a technical level..but BC was more fun and thats what matters most to me.

I will buy Bad company 2 on day 1 no matter, because i'm pretty sure its good. I finished BC 1, on all 3 difficulties.
If it have online campaign coop with 4 players, it will for sure beat MW2.

NEVER because its EA.
Lol Medal of Honor was the best war game in its time but then came CoD which from start was far better and they keep getting better whilst MoH games got worse.
Its rare that EA actually make a title and then make a sequel twice as good, EA are more concerened about spitting out the most games a year than sitting with a title and making it shine.

About 6 years. I just replaced my 6 year old PC this year. It was a Athlon 1800+ and originally had a ATI AIW 8500DV. Two years ago I upgraded the video card with a ATI HD2600pro that cost me $25. That card is now in a friends Athlon 2400+ PC, since I longer need an AGP card. His 6 year old PC was running well last weekend we we played some of the L4D2 demo on his PCs.
I think my other 3 year old extra gaming PC is a AMD 64 2800+ and is running a free ATI X700 that I got for helping the same friend upgrade to a 8800GTS. The X700 is starting to show it's age mainly because the X850 seems to be the cut off for most new games. But it still plays all the games that I have 2 copies of, so I am fine for now.
My current PC that I built in the spring is only a AMD x2 3200 with a ATI 4770. It was less then the cost of a PS3 at the time and has played every game I have thrown at it.
So you only own one console at a time? I haven't had just one current gen console since the NES. I usually have at least 2 current ones, and last generation I had 3 with a Dreamcast, a PS2 and a GameCube.

If you read my signature, you will see that i have 360, Wii and PS3.
I also own Dreamcast, Gamecube, CD32, CDTV, N64, SNES, NES +++
Anyway.. My current PC is several years old now, and i wont upgrade it anytime soon.
Pentium 830D 3.2Ghz, 2.GB RAM, Asus Premium Mobo, NVIDIA 8600GT.
I refuse to play several new games at low setting. Crysis is maybe the newest game that runs fast on my PC of the heavy ones.

Really a Amiga CD32? And you dare give advise to anyone about gaming platforms. Sorry, I could resist.:o
I don't have Crysis so I don't if it runs well or not on my PC. I've played at my friend's house and was not impressed with the game play, but it does look great. The newest PC games that I have that run fine are Red Faction Guerrilla, Wolfenstein, Riddick: Dark Athena and Cryostasis. Cryostasis is the only one that had to be to turned down, but that is the least of the problems with that game.
Aren't today's low PC settings about the same resolution that most PS3 and 360 games run at?

Yes I did know the CD32 was released then. And then 2 months later Commodore went under. It never got a good release here in the US.
I loved my C64. It was my 1st computer. And I used it until I got a 486. The c64 was so much better.

Ah.. so you live in US...Then i understand why you skipped CD32. The biggest market for CD32 was in Europe, and it had game releases until year 2003 or so by hardscore Amiga devs. The most games was made in EU 2-3 years after Commodore went broke. I worked at the Amiga company that took over after Commodore for 3 years, and i can tell you the demand for CD32 was BIG until 1998. :-) The CD32/CDTV scene was "kinda big" until year 2005.
I also owned Commodore 64, and yes.. Its THE best gaming system of all time. :-)
And the last 20 years, i owned Commodore C128D with internal floppy and external keyboard. It runs C64/128 and CP/M..

Nah the best for gaming by far was the Amiga 500...not much more than a 128 but hella advanced graphically and audibly in comparison. Had an amiga 2000 after that but by then C= was on its last legs. :(

I have a fully upgraded CD32 and A1200 too. :)
Too bad Escom went broke before they managed to release their CD64 console.
The best gaming systems was made by "Commodore". Not to forget all the awesome GFX programs. :-)

Hmm, I did not know all of that. Thanks for the info.
I regret giving away my C64 back in the 90s, but I gave it to some nice people who I'm sure got a lot of fun from my huge library of games. Their dad had previously repaired the joystick port for me. My C64 monitor just died a few years back when my ex-roomie left it out in the rain after a party.
