View Full Version : Are MS banning innocent consoles as well?
The Xbox forums is full of complaints by Xbox 360 owners who claim that their system has never been modified yet has been BANNED from LIVE. One of the stand out complaints is a father who questions why MS has banned the 360 of his 4 year old kid when the console has never been modified.

i thought the rating for halo3 was a bit higher then 4.
either way, i like how he calls his game an 'original'
whered he get that terminology? usually people with no knowledge of the 360 being hacked say store bought. and people who have burnt games and retail games refer to the storebought retail as originals.
ill bet there are alot of genuine people banned, but i bet this guys bsing

i have to ask, how many games are made for the 360 that are for ages 4+ ?
a 4yr old with a 360? they purchased it back in '07 with their kid was like 1 1/2 or 2 years old then?

I saw this one there yesterday...does anyone really believe this? His 4 year old is in tears because he couldnt play Halo 3? Oh well there is always Gears 2 for a bit of ultraviolence. :rolleyes:

Ok so the guy seems to be full of it... and I'm not talking about sincerity, but let's just imagine that he is actually saying the truth/ I really don't see him playing Halo with his kid necessarily bad, it all depends how he goes about it I suppose. If he would explain that games are different from reality or something along those lines then I don't really think there's much of an issue.... in fact maybe making the difference obvious since a young age would be a good step.... that said I'm not recommending parents do this; but you can't be 100% sure he isn't handling this properl. I would be more worried if he said that he's 4 year old plays it by himself. I'm a supporter of adult supervision, not of taking games away from kids.

If you ***** in the forums you can be given an email or someone to contact with all the info off your sticker on the back of the console. They will then "review there flawless data" and in a few days will say your still banned. But hey they at least looked at it twice.

When he turned on the console it said he was banned? It doesn't say anything, it just doesn't connect to Xbox live anymore. I've had tonnes of banned consoles going back to Xbox 1. None of them ever said anything, they just don't connect to live and you get cryptic service codes which you have to google to find anything out. I call BS.

I guess you haven't cos when you try and connect to xbox live it states that this console is banned. Then sprouts off TOS and live use.

The kid is 4 years old, that is a critical age for psychological development and this guy is exposing the child to graphic depictions of violence.
As far as 'explaining' things to put it in context, again the kid is 4 and has limited cognitive understanding, no matter what this little kid (if he exists) is going to be seriously screwed up later on in life.

as for this story, it's pure bs.
he could have said at least 12, or 14.....may make me believe it.
thing is, if they review his system a second time - and it fails again, they will also ban the gamertag too. (says so right in his thread on the xbox forums)
worth the risk for a $199 console?...... lose all your DLC licenses, gamerscore, etc

Yeah you do have a point, all in all the 4 didn't sink in properly. I just took it as him being underaged. I was just thinking about that this morning saying to myself "Wait a sec!!!!! shouldn't 4 year olds be watching blues clues?" let's be honest though, is Halo 4 anywhere near as bad as Sponge Bob?

I don't see any evidence of them banning legit consoles. No one I know has been banned.
