Im trying to connect my xbox 360 onto the internet. At the plug that the home phone is connected it has the plug for the phone to plug into and another plug next to it (this is on a splitter) for a modem, now if i plug the modem into that and hook it up to my 360 will i still be able to use the home phone whille im connected to the internet on the 360?? I need to know because i dont want it to stop the home phone working whille in online. If anyone can help or needs more info to help please let me know.

Yes you can, same as you can whilst connected to the Internet whilst you typed this.
If its ADSL, or a variant of, and either your phone doesn't work or using the phone disconnects you from the Internet you have one of three problems.
The phone - some phones for some reason interfere with ADSL.
The Splitter - fact of life some cheaply made products aren't made properly.
Your phone line - the phone company may charge you for testing/replacing it, but its probably the oldest part of the setup.
I have managed to hit all three of these problems at one point or another.
