According to internet reports, Modern Warfare 2 has been RECALLED in Russia. The reason it has been recalled is due to the controversy regarding the airport level and the PS3/360 versions of the game are to be re-released without the respective scene.

Why is there all this controversy? Cant you just skip the level? Or play it but not shoot anyone except those who are shooting you?

Because its actually happened for real a few times in russia, moscow theatre siege, schools etc so its a matter of sensitivity for them.

How would you feel if they got a couple of planes and made a level of them flying into some new york buildings? Then give you the option of skipping the levels.

Would you still say the same thing then?

I actually forgot about those two sieges (although I do recall that the main reason for the deaths in the theatre siege was russian incompetence).

I thought you got the option to skip it at the beginning of the level if you ran the warning prompt? Also, if I knew in advance about the 9/11 recreation...probably not.

Ok, maybe I am being a bit callous and ignorant of those who may not have known about the part of the game, but I do find some things can be a bit over the top at times and a mass recall does seem a bit weird for an adult game....oh wait, maybe they also fear that people who are against the russians would get some sick twisted pleasure from it?

Wow, maxconsole cites gotPS3
I'm honored))

Actually that was a mysterious story. Distributors tryied to hide that fact till the end, so nobody believed us initially. But they managed to release censored PC version ONLY and recalled console versions. Release dates of CoD6 for PS3 Xbox 360 changed its status to TBA, so now people have to buy european or american versions.
Why it happened - is still unknown. My insider source told me that there was some pressure from the mmm... government (I dunno how to call that department in english). Anyway, there was (and still is) NO official comments.

Actually it wouldn't bother me a bit. Because it's a GAME!!!! If people can't separate reality from fantasy then that's their problem.

Unfortunately most people in the media and politics can't....I wonder why:rolleyes:

It wouldn't bother me a bit either, but not because I am so "cool and unaffected", but because after killing countless people and crippling two nations I think America lost all good will it got for 911. Now 911 is a joke to me.

In the same manner 911 game would not affect you, it would still cause a lot of distress for others. That is what is happening here.

Sometimes its nice to think of others and perhaps see things from their point of view. Probably not an american thing - its a human thing.

I actually forgot about those two sieges (although I do recall that the main reason for the deaths in the theatre siege was russian incompetence). You're right they used anesthetic through a ventilation system with little planning and didn't tell the emergency services what to treat.
Must of been desperate though, the place was locked down so tightly escaping hostages tripped explosives.

Multiple movies have been made for those events, Its all about context for me. But i agree that's a little too close for comfort even for a brit.

I was wondering why they put that level in and I think I know why...

The game is really like an action movie. Only difference is you play it. When you do the terrorist scene you are a deep cover CIA agent. For anyone who knows about deep cover agents, their morals are always deeply questioned in order for them to get closer to their subject. Some go through drug abuse and whatnot so they can look part of the gang or group. Whichever. I think that's what they tried to do here. You actually don't need to fire of a shot at all at the civilian part. Doesn't effect the game or story. I know I didn't fire a shot as it questioned my morals. Even if it is a game. (Of course, once the police came, I had to "light 'em up") But I think the developers were trying to throw the players into a moral dilemma, as I'm sure, the deep cover CIA agent was feeling when he was put into that situation. And of course you get shot and America is attacked by Russia because they find the yankee white guy... It is a little controversial, but I think its good they pushed the boundaries.
