PSP Slim umd problems

Right my son's slim psp stopped reading umd's basically as soon as you shut the umd tray it gives the error dics cannot be read

thought it was the laser so fitted a new drive but still has the same problem

anyone got any ideas as to what it could be

It's never been flashed so i can only assume all the keys are working ok

assuming it's a slim, check inside the drive. there should be a white switch just left of the motorized wheel of the drive. then there is a second switch just to the right of the right hinge(as u look in to the drive the way a umd goes in) also there is a tab on the umd door that pushes it down. check all 3 for damage.
