Ooops! Modern Warfare 2 banning legitimate PC players

According to reports, legitimate PC players of Modern Warfare 2 are actually getting banned because they are actually 'illegitimate' users. A number of players purchased CD keys from online stores such as G2Play but Infinity Ward are not happy with that so are slapping out bans.

If you’ve bought a MW2 CD key lately from a so called ‘online cd key store’, such as G2Play and CdKeyHouse, you’ll probably end up getting your game revoked from your Steam account soon.

According to official Valve employees this is due to the fact you’ve bought the key from an “illegitimate seller”.

My original post was about how this happened before with the orange box asian keys being revoked.

I would like to know though, was this a joke by a moderator or is it a hacking incident? If its the former then fair enough (next time I recommend waiting for April 1st) or should I change my password?
