Hey everyone, hopefully I won't get too many flames for asking some doofy questions. I looked around for a while but couldn't find exactly what I wanted to know. I have a firmware 3.4 soft modded wii. I haven't updated anything or messed with stuff in a long time. I don't have a good enough internet connection to get on and update my firmware any higher (satellite net :( ). Basically what i'm wondering is, without updating my firmware at all, can I play newer games (basically new super mario bros). If so what all do I have to do, just patch it in and throw it on my usb loader? or do I need to update my cios rev version and all sorts of other stuff? Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot!

For NSMB:

You WILL need to download stuff but each IOS file is around 2MB and neogammaR8 can run it.

for msot games:
the IOS files needed for most games are 38, 53 and 58.

Am I safe to extract those ios files from my own backups or do I need to have them modified in some way first? Also am I able to update my Cios Rev version to 14 or later without fear of bricking anything on my firmware version? Thanks dude, you've been super helpful.
