360 wont read discs

So my 360 stopped reading my discs, it justs says open trey. I assume this drive is screwed however I have another drive from a rrod 360. Would it be easier/possable to swap drives or to fix the rrod one?

Also the drive from the donor was flashed way back when. Would I be able to restore it to factory or upgrade it so I don't get banned (I only have silver but would need it for updating)

swapping drives in a 360 means keys from drives are required and possible spoofing if the drives are not the same version.
