The new GT 5 demo was released yesterday and we want to know what YOU think of it. IGN thinks its outstanding, but did you feel the same away? What do you think about the physics, the looks, the style, is it all you had hoped for or less?

in b4 people who don't even have ps3's post to say it 'isn't as good as forza 3'.

Christmas wish : nobody else posts in the thread.

I think it was great. The physics felt great and drifting is great fun. I only miss the sun reflection effect on the road that was in GT5:P.

played about the same as forza and need for speed shift didn't see anything to hate or get to stocked about should be a great game just hope the nascar part of it is good sense ea has left us nascar fans without a game now for over a year. yes i know its cars going around in circles but there is so much more to it then that so no hating please

Haha very good point! I agree!

Gonna try this demo later today.

Honest opinion i don't think this is a valid representation of the final game.
I dont like the demo but that won't have an influence on my pre-order after all i completely loved prologue and this is a one track two car demo.

I didn't like the demo and was dissepointed. It felt so simplistic, and the physics was'nt realistic .
The track design was as simple as in GT 5 Prologue.

I hope the final game have decent tracks. Good physics or not, you also need fun and great designed tracks.

Loved it!

Shame I don't have more time to play it as I've gotta go out but still... awesome!

didnt even realise a demo came out.

seems weird theyd be removing features from gt5p though

guess this is a good excuse to bust out the g25 wheel and race a little.

then again, ive got a ton of 512mb jaspers to toss XBR on tonight :o

qft. personally i enjoy nascar racing, nationwide and sprint cup but don't care for the truck series, been a fan for many many years. i too did kind of enjoy the nascar games, but personally have turned to pc for sim racing, as iracing fits the bill just fine.

no hating from me :)

People are getting confused, this was never meant to be a DEMO of GT5.
It was made for GT Academy, its mainly GT5 P with the new Physics Engine.

Its a small 200mb download, so you'd expect things to be missing. Most Demo's are 1+ Gb's.

Its missing the clutch from the G25 to make things more even for the competition but GT5 will have everything Prologue had and more.
We might not get an actual GT5 Demo. But its only 3 months till the JP release.

Finally got to sit down with it for an hour or so today with my full logitech G27 setup, modified peddals (top downs), and it has to be said, there are subtle differences between GT5:P and this demo that make it that little bit nicer to play using a wheel, the response from the road through the wheel feels more robust and engine breaking works beautifully.

Might not be all that special on a normal pad, but with the right kit it shines.

The first full Gran Turismo title for PS3, Gran Turismo 5 will give you even more of the astounding realism, design and in-car physics that the series has won acclaim for – it’s the drive of a lifetime. You’ll get to tackle the world’s most famous racetracks, rendered in High Definition graphics – and you’ll get behind the wheels of some of the most legendary cars in motor racing from past to cutting-edge present.

I doubt this is by any means a representation of the final game. True GT is not on my good graces these days, but this is probably more aimed at having people talk about GT5 than representing the game.

In the end haters will still hate it, and fanboys will still love it, and like ThreeDog, this probably won't affect anyone that has pre-ordered it... but it will surely not make most (anyone?) pre-order the game either... status quo I guess.

Played a few laps.

Graphics are great and so are the physics. However, the game so far definitely isn't as controller friendly as Forza 2/3, with no ability to adjust turning, brake, acceleration sensitivities and deadzones. I don't know if such settings exist for a wheel/pedal setup, but they look to be absent for the ps3 controller. The acel/braking settings are too sensitive for my taste (i use the trigger buttons as my accel/brake). If this is representative of the controls in the final game, then I would say that its definitely one of those games you would need a wheel/pedal setup to really enjoy.

Also, the dualshock rumble is insufficient at giving you a feel of the road. There is no rumble when the car is losing grip or changing gears. The only time i feel any rumble is when i go off the track or lock up the breaks.

If they can fix or improve on these simple little things then it would be more fun and less fustrating.

i was very surprised by the handling - it feels very unrealistic.
ill try and explain: i played with the tuned car and went off at every corner as you would expect but i just couldnt stop the fishtaling of the thing while on track - the slightest corner had me off every time. i then tried the normal car and of course it was far easier - however, and this is important - i completed my first lap and set a reasonable time with my first go - after this i was unable to set a time even close to my first because the fishtaling started happening again. (a typical example being the long right hander - i powerslid along the length of that, unintentionally, and because of that i had less speed and every time i try it now i cant take that corner full speed yet i did the first time) i dont beilieve for one second the car handles that badly, i mean seriously, if all cars handled like that there wouldnt be a ditch in the land not filled with wrecks. they REALLY need to get the physics sorted. it doesnt help of course having only a crappy dualshock to control the game with but that still doesnt explain the fishtaling as i tried buttons and also the nub and still the same effect. it spoiled the entire game for me and i was hoping to compete with the academy (hey i can hope) but not with the physics like that. i dont understand why it seems so unrealistic to me. woulda been better to allow tweaking of the cars setup, it definetly would have made a big difference (it did in gt5 for psp).

I think you're more used to arcade-y racers than sims, if you're fishtailing its because you're laying down too much power while going around the corner, think of it this way, if you're driving a real car around a track, would you come off at every corner if you put the pedal to the metal every single time you want to stop decelerating and start accelerating again, of course you're going to lose traction, the same goes for when you brake harshly into a turn, you cant just throw the car into a sharp corner then expect it to suddenly grip the road.

Turn traction controll up to 10 on the racing modified version, if you're still coming off on corners stop full throttling it, it's a racing sim not ridge racer.

Yeah u also gotta go easy on the steering too. Anything other than the slightest nudge has you cranking ur wheel. old gt games gave u a wider turning radius at speed. to b fair this is 4 that gt academy contest and has most settings locked in for fairness and only proffesional physics available, the full game will have more assists as well as a standard physics model as an option .

This goes back to what i was sayin about the game is that some of the controls are very sensitive such as the steering, throttle, and braking. It just make it alot harder to be smooth all the way through the turn. I come from playing Forza3, and if i brake as I normally do in that game in the GT5 demo, it feels like im hitting the e-brake; that's how sensitive it is. Not sure if its the game or if its the controller itself, because the triggers on the dualshock controller has a mushier feel than the xbox360 controller.

If they had given you sensitivity/deadzone options, then this would aleviate these problems, imo.

Don't drive like you'd play an Arcade then, driving a Simulator means you have to actually 'Drive', not 'Put your foot to the floor in attempts to win', just because the cars aren't real doesn't mean you can just thrash the nuts out of them, drive like you'd normally drive your own car... if you're old enough to drive that is, lol.

I found it easier to control with the stick. Its easier to get what you want out of than the buttons. But you gotta be just as gentle with the throttle and brake as you r with the steering wheel. I have to say I like it this way I do hope this is how it plays on professional in the final game. After I got the hang of it it was much more satisfying, especially in cockpit view. I also loved how the different cars feel.

HUH? did you travel into the future? (a funny person would say 10 years into the future) get a copy and then come back to our present time?... are you part of PD and have the final release of the game which they refuse to release despite pressure from everybody from satan, to Jesus to release it?... or are you kinda confused about what game we are talking about?

hah nice one, learn that at kindergarten? ive been driving for quite a while now and i dont pedal to the metal in any game unless it is an arcade style one. i was simply commenting on how with my first lap i set a decent time and after that wasnt even able to get close to that time. it just felt different each time i drove it. ill be trying it again and turning off the ghost if i can because i find it distracting.

its because you're focusing too much on the speed/time and pushing it too far, i do it too, even with a steering wheel at times, slowing down and taking the corner at a low speed but with normal traction is faster than trying to slide around it.

Exactly, each lap I do I gradually get better and learn from mistakes, that's part of what makes it fun and challenging.
