According to a UK tabloid, soldiers fighting out in Afghanistan are using a small iPhone app to help kill real Taliban fighters. The app is called BulletFlight and helps shooters figure out how the wind and earth rotation will affect their bullet.

yeah i call bullshit on that one.

the only ones who would use that would be snipers, and i somehow think the military has a more sophisticated way to figure that out then an app for the iphone

saw a show on the history channel about snipers... a good one can do the 'math' (estimations) in their head, calculatuing bullet drop from gravity, how far it will move to the side from the spin, and compensating for the earths rotation. This app probaby just does the math for them, and i doubt its anything the snipers don't already know or some cutting edge technology, but probably helpful. i bet you key in how far away the person is, the wind, the temperature etc... and i agree is hard to believe the military hasn't come up with something better/sooner... maybe they have..

Everyone is, of course, entitled to their own view about Afghanistan and war in general, but do not criticise the brave Men and Women who fight for our way of life as we know it.

Do you have any concept of how important this war is. It's keeping a fanatical enemy pinned down in their own back garden and constantly gathering intelligence so that things like another 9/11 or 7/7 are far less likely to happen again.

People have short memories - remember how you felt when those towers collapsed?

Need to learn to use a .50 sniper rifle quickly with no training... well no app, but we can tell you where your bullet might go.

Oh please explain how important this war is... considering the only 2 people 2 think so were both George bush's... who own stock in the oil companies over there. Please explain why I have friends that are wounded because we are invading another country that does not want us there.

I felt really happy I didn't go to school that day! My school was (i graduated already) a block or two away from the twin towers.

My bro (who is in the army) also reckons this isnt true, but he cant be too sure.

I reckon that maybe a few are using this app (on IPTs) but the mail is just doing a Fox news making one persons thoughts sound like everyone's thoughts.
