Is it worth switching from disc to usb backups?

I currently have all my backups run from discs, however, I recently cleaned up my computer and now have a spare empty 160GB 2.5" HDD lying around.

So I am wondering whether it is worth switching from disc to USB backups?

What are the compatibility issues and is it possible to dump the games directly onto the HDD from the wii rather than stream them over wifi?

Also is there any news of a Gamecube USB loader or is it impossible thanks to the way MIOS works?

The question is are you using software to boot your discs or a modchip? ;)

I like USB better than discs because I don't have to worry about loosing a disc or getting DREs due to bad batch of media or failing burner ect.

I use USB Loader GX I just start the loader insert the disc then a message pops up asking if I want to install to the HD

I do not know if there is a GC USB loader I would love to see one myself though

I would make the switch then because I do not think the wiikey v1 will be getting an update for BCA protection that games like avatar and new super mario brothers use
