MS: Xbox 360 has not even reached mid-age yet

Microsoft has revealed its belief that the Xbox 360 has not even reached mid-age just yet. According to Bach, the Xbox 360 is still very much on the 'upside' of the console lifecyle.

I cannot believe how the xbox360 can last another 5 years,its already been relegated to 4th place in our house for usage,Im currently playing the PC mostly these days since upgrading my video card it now blows my xbox360 & ps3 away, then the PS3 gets the next most use & since buyng my daughter a Wii for xmas that currently gets a lot of usage too with the mario games,then lastly comes the xbox360 think the last time I played this was forza 3 sometime in December,Games for the xbox360 even the PS3 are looking a bit dated now since upgrading my GFX card & even that wasnt a top of the range ones it just cost me £120 to upgrade

MY PC IS SO ***** EN who cares pc gaming is not as fun as a console i dont care what anyone says upgrade every 3 to 6 months video cards to play one game it gets real old fast. i have a good pc i steal all kinds of games but id rather play my 360 or ps3 its more stable and the games just work.and wait for it i have a much bigger choice of games.back to the topic im glad ms isnt making a new system the xbox went away far too soon has better graphics then the wii but just didnt sell as well as it should have so they moved on the 360 has lots of life left in it the games just keep getting better and better. so uncharted 2 looks dated what about god of war 3 looks real dated give me a break

fps and mmo`s are godsent to pc... PC has always owned that market. Way better experience than console. But console does win at alot of the other genre though.

only games i play on pc are mainly fps`ers. But there is no mmo out there pc or console to battle wow right now and ff online 2 wont do it either. Its just ff11 with a face lift and has been wow afide.

Back on topic... does anyone actually think another xbox is being built right now?? If natel flops and fails to generate sales or if the ps3 gets 2nd place then expect this statement to change real fast. Microsoft right now is content with where they are and until it changes they wont force their hand.

But 2 things could.
1) ps4
2) ps3 gets second place and xbox 360 sales slow down majorly.

But of course microsoft is gonna say what there are... they will focus on natel and if they can give devs years to work with natel and get better at it, that gives them more time to make the next xbox even better since it will no doubt have natel built in.

I hate when people over exaggerate the time it takes to upgrade. Especially right now, you can play games on med-high settings on a card for probably at least 3 years. Saying your have to upgrade every 3-6 months is silly.

Also I hate it when people say you need to spend $1000+ on a nice gaming computer. Wrong. For a 1080p monitor and higher end gaming pc you can get for $700 by building it yourself. My gaming pc was only $500 last year that included 4GB RAM, 4870, AMD Phenom II X4 940 3Ghz. And with Steam always having amazing deals, you can't complain about the prices of games. Through Steam I found some really good indi games.

You kidding me in the right conditions the 360 will last like almost forever. Mine only lasted a year. It was my fault I used it for maybe a few hours a week other then that it's bullet proof.

people said the same thing about ps1 and ps2.... we see how that turned out.

The life span of a console is mainly maintained by if the console makes money and 3rd party devs supporting it. Like sony claims ps2 is alive and kicking. But mainly is due to 3rd party devs making games so people cont to buy consoles, sony makes money off that so the keep making it.

Same thing as xbox 360. As long as 3rd party devs make great games and they sell, then microsoft will cont to make and sell consoles.
But if 3rd party devs stop supporting a console and console... that console will be on borrowed time.

But to think in some lab another wii, xbox and ps4 isnt being made right now... is crazy. But considering the xbox and wii can take another price cut and still make money then microsoft and nintendo dont care how long they prologue this gen. While sony being in last place and not making moeny but rather losing money on each ps3 sold, may force them to jump to next gen in the ps3 cant start making up for that lose.

Great, in my house no one plays PC games with the exception of the occasion flash game or solitaire. The 360 gets played the most mainly due to live and relatives living across the country. I'm the only one in my house that plays the PS3 (its on my desk), the Wii gets played by my son occasionally but my daughters haven't played with it in months. Everyone is different so are their gaming habits.

yes true & Wa only giving my view why the xbox360 wont last & have a strong 10 year lifecycle if there isnt a new xbox released within that time its going to look very outdated in another 5 years,Same goes for Wii & PS3 as well

yep i think your right,its going much to slow with 1st party games they are just giving a few so we can shut up.

grears of war 3 not appearing on this gen anymore seems like a good indicator that something new is in the works.

i'm pretty shure that it will be fully backlwards compatible this time...

I think three, max four years for 360 and Ps3. I think Wii will not wait so much.

Wii Is one year oldest then 360 and one yead and half to Ps3.

Another factor is that wii is saturated. Sells more difficult than that.
