What will the PSP Slim Remote do when playing a game? My start on psp is broken.

Ok the port on my psp slim motherboard is broken for the "home bottom" and everything else on that circuit board or whatever its called. Meaning I can not pause a game or turn up or down the volume. So what does the psp slim remote do when playing a game? Will it let me pause a game?

The PSP is a hand-held video game system created by Sony. When used in conjunction with the PS3 gaming system, it can act as a remote control. There are several problems most of which are due to me being picky but one that is mostly due to circumstances. I would like to use the PSP as a remote to select songs stored on my PS3 to playback via my hifi which the PS3 is connected to - rather than having the songs stream to the PSP.
