The Best of Free: iPhone gaming for cheapskates v1

Nothing beats free, and for iPod Touch and iPhone owners, there is decent gaming even if your not willing to spend a dime at the app store. This week we will take a look at three new games worth downloading and one game demo worth checking out.

LightBike 2

27298

What do you get when you cross Tron with Evel Kinevel…lots off fun and a new twist on a classic. Lightbike 2 takes off where the first left off improving the visuals and adding power-ups like speed boots and jumping into the mix. The rules are still the same bikes leave a solid line of light behind them and you still have the goal of outracing your opponent and trying to make him crash. The jump element adds an entirely new strategy but the game is runs at a very fast pace to you really have to pay attention and time things to use it effectively. Speed boost is nice way to cause a wipeout but it too has its need for caution. For fans of Tron its a must have and you can't beat the price…oh and it supports online multiplayer for up to 4 people as well.

American McGee's Crooked House

He's back and this time he bring's his bizarre sense of destroying our childhood memories with American McGee's Cooked House. Based on the Nursery Rhyme "There Was a Crooked Man", the game is a mix of puzzle and mystery that has that unique blend of darkness and humor that American McGee is known for. Its free this weekend…so better be quick after that it goes back to $1.99

Voodoo Soccer

27300

In honor of the World Cup, Aunt Poison has released a version of their Voodoo Doll app specifically for torturing your most hated teams, players or officials. Choose preset team avatars or customize your own then stab em, stick pins in them and make them pay. Nope its not a game, its not really even an app just an amusing time waster but its free and beats the heck out of beating or trampling fans in the stands. Its free through July 1st.

Almost Free: The Demo of the Week:

Lilracerz Micro Rally

27301

Like old school games like Offroad? LilRacerz Micro Rally is like Offroad with much bigger tracks but the with same top down view and fun. Collect coins, get nitro boosts, power slide around corners and just for fun go carmageddon and run over the bystanders. the demo only has a handful of tracks but does let you do various upgrades and get a good feel for the pay version which btw has 17 tracks so far and is only 99 cents. There are other racers like it out there but the nice visuals and tight controls (yes even with a virtual gamepad it plays great) make it a decent purchase.
