I have a psp 1000 that has been babied since day one, still looks new, worked great till the other day, went to unplug (it was charging) and turn on and nothing, when i charge it i get orange light but i get nothing when i try to turn it on....

I am pretty handy at taking things apart and have no trouble with stuff like that, but not exactly sure where to start, battery was holding a good 2+ hr charge fine previously, no issues just shut off plugged in and next day nothing when i tried to power it up.

Any common things I can check or replace (thinking power switch maybe?) also where is a good place to get replacement parts, if i can get a switch and it works again i also wanna change my buttons and directional stick at the same time (just older but still like to swap them out if i have the thing apart).

I should also mention there are no hacks or cracks or anything modified on this unit, using standard games standard psp firmware, oem battery etc...

Thanks for any info,

Bill :)

Well I did take the battery out but the unit still wont turn on (only orange light) while battery is plugged in, but as soon as i remove the battery and add ac cord i get nothing.

I took the unit apart to verify a few things, checked the lcd and main data cables are all fully seated and not loose, also saw a video on youtube for how to turn on your psp without your power switch, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYRnaImG28E
figured I would try this then I would know if my power switch was bad, I can get it to replicate the video with the green light part but it doesn't turn on like the one in the video.

So at this point I am pretty stumped, any other ideas or things I should or could check to get this working? Just odd how it worked fine, put it down picked up later and now won't do anything, (no drops or accidents etc).

I don't think is a screen problem...because if screen is broken, sound logo must start.

If you haven't try to install a new custom firmware, this mean isn't a brick.

I think it can be only a mainboard fault.

I had this problem at one point as well and I really thought I had permanently bricked my PSP. It wouldn't turn on at all and it wouldn't charge. Thankfully it only lasted for about 20 minutes, then it started to function properly and I haven't had a problem with it since.

I got lucky, sucks for you though brah. Hope you find a solution for it.

Psp can't brick itself...probabilly some temporany fauls...good for you. ;)
