View Full Version : MMD + New 4GB CF = "Please insert a disk into drive F:." ?!?

I got a new CF card for my DS because the old one was constantly corrupting. Problem is: now windows can't access the card via usb cable.
I can take the card out (unscrew, open, remove), plug it into a card reader, format it, put games on it, then put it all back together and my DS works just fine... but that's a pain in the ass.
The card itself is obviously fine (like I said the DS works just fine if I go through the painful process), I've played several games, used DSO / Moonshell / DSLibris / etc., but windows keeps telling me that I don't have a card inserted when I try to plug it into the usb port.
I'm using a SanDisk Ultra 4GB, Windows 7 (on 1st computer) and Windows XP (on 2nd computer) so it's not the operating system. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and if there's a fix for it? (I've already searched the forums and haven't found anything useful.)
Thanks.

I doubt that its the MMD itself. The same thing happened when I put the card into my wife's MMD.

The internal USB converter may not like the 4GB card (is it FAT32?). Try it with a 2GB or smaller and see what happens.

I know it DOES work with a 2GB card, that's what I was trying to upgrade from. I ended up just putting a bunch of $#!T on both cards using the built-in CF reader on my PC and then plugged them into the docks. It's a pain in the ass still but at least we can use them.
