Ultimate noob post re open manager on USB

1) What exactly do i copy onto the usb stick? Is it the folder and all its contents?

2) Does the usb stick have to blank for OM to work?

I ask as I'm wanting to back up to internal HD

You should have a .pkg file just copy it to the root of a usb memory stick and use the install package feature on the playstation 3.
If you have a folder full of files you likely have the source code and not the useful release.

No you do not need a blank stick you can put whatever you want on there.

Yeah it was the source code.

Got the .pkg files and running the latest pl3. I'm happy with that and all seems to be going well so far.
