what an utter disgrace that after at least 5 years it needs a day 1 update and then a patch, makes you wonder why this company is still in business because they dont deserve to be.

its nothing to do with ps3 this time, they delayed it because they said they were trying to perfect it then a day 1 patch to make it work online and now having to advise people to knock their ps3's offline just so they can play the game at all is pretty poor qc, and lets face it i'm nowhere near the only person who's said that if it wasnt for sonys bankrolling them dp would have folded because of all the delays.

@ billy
i know it's disgraceful, i' mean what have they been doing for 4 years???
but believe me some where between the lines there is a great game.

the odd thing is, i believe you, 1-4 were all great games once you got into them and i dont doubt that this one will too its just given the time taken and the statements made by dp about getting it just right it really does seem like a total failure of qc, maybe if they put online in to start with instead of either rushing it because they forgot (unlikely) or intentionally gimping it they wouldnt have suddenly discovered all these issues after launch.

They only had F I V E fucking years to make this peace of crap. Who could blame first day patches and updates.

i do agree as well, they did build it up a bit to much, to just port over old ps2 models without updating textures, and there are more of those sorts of issues.
but i am happy with it non the less. it plays much better then any gt to date.
and about the online,
it would have been a smart move of them to test it more extensively but,
as you know most games experience online problems at launch (mostly due to unexpected excessive traffic)
so i'm just happy to see them working around the clock and getting updates out fast. does give hope of more improvements to come.
anyway i'm off the track is waiting

They've underestimated the kind of load they're getting and really that's fair enough. Besides Call of Duty i don't think Sony have expected this much action on their online service before and now they've seen it they can deal with it in the future.

Well the pressed 7 million discs so I don't understand how they could under estimate the server load.

well, I'm an all time fan of the GT series up untill 4... GT2 was my favorite, you could change whatever you wanted in it, up to the alloys, I mean, there where hundreds off little tweeks to be made, if you just wanted THAT little bit more speed or grip.
it just feels that the newer the games get, the more gets stripped.
I think I will wait untill it comes in the second-hand-bin...
long time reader, first time post... hope to join in the sometimes pleasant banter.:D

I really hope you're right, 'cause I've been waiting since launch for this game. but the love has kindled over the years. GT HD was nice, prologue was kinda fun, but it didn't feel realistic. It seems the cars skid over the roads: instead of turning on the weels, it has a centre turning point. And I think that SUCKS in a sim game...
hope they fixed that in the final build.

i don't think there is a final build of gt5. seems like they just pushed the thing out the door to finally have it out and now it's going to be a patch fest to get the thing up to where it should have been at release.
apparently 5+ years wasn't enough time to build and beta test. the game will be worth picking up in a game of the year edition so that it includes all the latest bug fixes, patches and added content that didn't somehow make it for release.

i would say be glad they are even releasing patches for it, unlike many other developers.

I am loving this GT, but I do feel after playing gt4 for weeks building up to it, it feels more of a complete game.
Where is the windy south of france tracks, where is midfield where is some of the best cars ever?
No escort cossie but a fiat panda?
Where is the OLD mini, every game has new mini but not the old rally cooper special.
Makes no sense that we should have Kaz's favourite but not the fans favourites (50 skylines proof that kaz doesnt car for much other than jap cars)
Saying that the racing experience is great, the driving on a g25 is amazing (but where is the 100% g25 support??)
Som glaring issues, but gt4>gt3 so gt 6>5 but hopefully not gonna take 10 years this time.....
Or better yet patch the **** out of gt 5 and do some dlc until gt 6 then everyone is happy.
AND THEY NEED TO ALLOW GT5 SAVE -> GT6
I bought prologue and wanted my cars, even just in Arcade.
Also where is the suzuki liana, kia c'eed and chvy lacceti?? I think PD missed a BIG trick there. No being able to do your own star in res. priced car challange?? Why include the track then?
Also in liscences we need to do 1000m stops so why no drag racing/time/ rolling road?
FM3 isnt that good but i think it outshines PD as a game, but not for actual gameplay, if that makes sense to anyone
only 500000 players planned online, either that was very poor planning, or they were expecting GT5 to flop hard. However I was kinda curious to make an online component without beta testing it, I think it was rushed out in the few last month of dev.
