NO activision has the OLD EA hate... Sony hate is different.

EA worked their ass off trying to repair their image at the cost of losing money as well to regain customer trust and support. ACTI is trying to get a free pass on screwing people. Gamers made them what they are and can make them what they used to be just as fast.

I'm quite annoyed, my PS3 doesn't switch on, according to the internets its the YLOD before they came up with the proper yellow LED code.

360 and PC are my go to multiplat so I use my PS3 as a media player too, before its demise that is. GT5 gave it a new lease of life mind

I know I am opening a can of worms here, but I still don't understand why anyone would hate Sony. Simply stop buying their products if you don't like their corporate policies. I also don't understand how anyone can say Sony screws them over. I am sure there are many reasons, but I have never been unsatisfied with Sony services or products.


Here are a few complaints that I am aware of:

PS3 - Sony killed OtherOS
** Expected as OtherOS provided a possible exploit and contained a vulnerability to the system security.

PSP - Memory Media Monopoly
** I have educated myself with product compatibilities prior to the purchase of any product and the available media that is offered. I have agreed to use the applicable products prior to purchasing so what could I complain about? Also, please understand many companies use exclusive products to enhance their product. Sony is not the only.

Sony Mandatory Upgrades
**Boohoo, Sony made me upgrade so I can't access vulnerabilities with product that " I own". Well, when someone is able to hack your PSN account and spend big $$ on your credit card because a system exploit, don't go crying to Sony or your bank. Updates only make the system safer for all. Exploits on the system cause cheating on the PSN etc. Also, I personally could care less about home brew. The PS3 plays all the media I need it to, and offers great entertainment and fun. Home brew sucks anyway, maybe you can name some good home brew games, but there are none I have ever found good. I do like emulators, but my PC does a great job for that. I have plenty games from the past few years of owning a PS3 and the last thing I want is to play a game from 20 years ago on the system. I would have never sold my old NES if I really wanted to play Zelda again.


Now I know all of you have an argument and are pissed off a Sony for some reason, but to each his own. I have never had a problem with Sony other than the YLOD on my first PS3. Before you flame, I will tell a great story from Sony customer service. My first PS3 phat had a YLOD after using it for over 2 years. I called Sony and advised them that I am aware that my system is out of warranty and I am also aware that Sony is aware of the YLOD which is actually a manufacturing problem as thermal paste was set improperly. I also told the agent that their competitor MS has extend their warranties and continues to fix the RLOD. Well, Sony sent me a brand new PS3 at no charge at all. They even shipped both ways for free.


I am sure many of you have had a bad experience with Sony, but I never have. Sony still has not dropped the ban hammer on the PSP or the PS3 and IMO have played a very kind game against the hackers. I own many Sony products, cameras, computers, home theater, tv's, etc. All Sony product have been a class purchase.


Now MS? Well crappy 3rd world customer service and don't even get me started on Windows and my Zune.

Dont drag microsoft into it, because fact is people hate microsoft as well. But these are major companies they dont give 2 rats craps about you me or the next person who posts in this thread. So if we all chose to except crap nothing gets done. Like RROD. It took people bithcing until they gave a extended warranty and fixed that crap. But during that time people hated microsoft for that as well.

So yes.... people do hate sony as for some of the REASONS you mentioned regardless if those reasons make you hate sony or not.

I LOVE My PS3, In my opinion is still the best console on the market. Last time I checked it was still free to play games online (Ahem 360)

Free Online (except for used EA Games cuz they Blow)
PS Home
Blue-Ray Player
Wireless Media Server
Exclusive's that Sony didn't PAY for like Twisted Metal, GOW3, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Tourizmo etc etc
Folding @ Home
Internet browser (with websites like stagevu to download new movies directly to your console)
TV Show for future generations of Gamers (The Tester) also free

I could go on for days and I'm sure there are plenty of Xbox fanboys that could do the same only they would FAIL.
Sony as a company has defiantly made some mis-steps, like I would never buy a VAIO and the Google TV thing seems to have fallen flat (even though its a good idea). I would also seriously question the need for a PSP2 as well. I think the PSP Phone is a little closer to the mark. Who is gonna carry there phone AND a PSP2 in there pocket?
End of the Day I Love My PS3 I think it dumps on all the other consoles. I'm on my second Console, and I'd defiantly buy another one. Ive hurd stories of XBOX 360 people being on there 4th or 5th console. PS3 FTW! Sony FT? Microsoft F-U

I don't doubt this as a true statement, but I would like to see a documentation to back up the claim other than a "hater" making the claim. From my understanding, the typical YLOD was cased from a thermal issue from solder/thermal paste and not cause from firmware.

They all were at first. I was well aware when I purchased mine that it was not BC. I had the choice simply not to buy if I wanted BC.

My post was to inquire on reason why someone would hate Sony. That could be a valid reason. But I also understand that one representative who is having a bad day does not properly reflect the company. If you have had poor CS then write a letter, send an email, ask for a supervisor. Complaining to the proper department produces great results.

It was a cheap shot but a good analogy. I only have 2 alternatives to buy a system if I don't like Sony and the current alternatives suck more.

I have 5 pc's and 3 laptops that do the same thing except play Ps3 games lol. I have Servers setup and hey my pc have a higher resolution then the ps3 and they do stuff unrestricted and can have more then 1 hard drive. I like the ps3 better then the 360.
MS knows their hardware is fail.
