Hi, i got this friend who has an Dell 30inch monitor (3008WFP) and he wanted to connect the Xbox 360 to this monitor via HDMI. It sound simple because this monitor has everything (http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-ultrasharp-3008wfp/4505-3174_7-32815166.html) (all the inputs you need). He then, uses an HDMI 1.3 compliant cable to connect the console to the monitor.
However, when he starts the console, he only sees his monitor goes into standby mode (black screen) with the xbox sound behind (sound is fine). We suppose that there is signal in the HDMI as the monitor detects no signal and it will show a blue screen that says NO INPUT SIGNAL (which it didn't show).
He also tried
1) HDMI to DVI cable -> There is signal but with garbage of different color on the screen (mostly red) which is unplayable
2) HDMI to DVI adapter something like this (http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Adapter-Plated-Connector-Female/dp/B000FUVNX8) with the same results as in 1)
3) Changing resolution: every resolution available on the XBOX 360 settings without any luck (memorizing the place of change resolution (because of the black screen)).
4) Connecting the XBOX 360 to an LCD 32'' TV with the SAME HDMI cable and it WORKS FINE
He is currently
Using a HD component cable running at 1080i on this monitor (which runs fine), but he wants to run on 1080p on HDMI
Does anyone has a solution which does not involves using an VGA cable?
Thanks
