I don't know about that. I'm thinking something else helped him kick the bucket, cause I remember some days with FF VII, Xenogears, GT, and GT II that were awfully LONG; and that was for entire weekends too... ah the good ol' days.

I've done some all nighters and long sessions before but I'm not sure I've done a full 12 hours. Wouldn't one get hungry, tired or cramped?

yeh Final Fantasy 7 back in the day, easily notched more than 12 hours, but had to eat and p*ss in between.

Surely this guy had some kind of illness and died of it, not playing 12 hours...

Jees... Theres so much missing from this story..
When Halo 2 and Mechassualt 2 first came out, I played 36 straight hours, taking breaks to go to the bathroom and eat...
Back in my stupid days I used to do Coke (SOOO much) and sit and play Xbox allday/allnight/allday ... etc...
Im still alive....
12 hours? Much more going on with this one

12 hours straight? That's it? I remember playing more than that... there was probably an underlying condition. The kid should've gotten checked in to see Dr. House.

I laughed when I saw the picture NY Daily News used. Talk about stereotypes! Maybe he died playing something other than Starcraft. Did you ever think of that, NYDN?
(Though, to be truthful... I read the source article just to see if it mentioned SC/SC2.)

If that were true I would have died 1900 times over. The first time I played Chrono trigger I played it in one veeeeeeeeerrrrrry long sittting.

Rip for that poor guy.
I remember I have played in a day all second FF9 disc...If don't wrong I have played it for 16 hours straight. It is my record, but only that time. I never repeat that record.
Usually I play 4-5 hours straight.
It would be interesting to open a poll where you indicate how many hours spend in a day, or how many consecutive hours you have as record.

Oh God, I just remembered FF III and Chrono Trigger. I kept telling myself "One more hour", but then something interesting would happen, so I would tell myself "OK I'll finish this quest", and after that I would go back to "One more hour"... vicious circle I tell you.

what some of you guys arn't aware of, is that sitting in any position for extended periods (gaming/tv/air travel) can cause the buildup of blood clots.
then - when you move and/or they break free, you can have a pulmonary embolism, stroke, and POSSIBLY an aneurysm.
so, say dumb **** like "weak human" and calling him soft all you want - he either had underlying health concerns he was not aware of OR he developed health issues during extensive gaming

I have to say there just had to be more involved than just gaming for twelve hours to have killed the guy. It would be necessary to do it repeatedly, and eat improperly.
