It's a disgrace they use this tragedy as an excuse for delaying the game when in reality it's about making the game require a higher firmware and thus less likely to be copied. It's about Sony's greed, not about consciousness...

How ignorant. Think a little how it looks releasing a game right now set on an island full of apocalyptic earthquakes. And the boasting thief further up the posts is just showing real poor taste yet again in boasting they are stealing a game delayed because it would be bad taste to release exactly a week after the earthquake.

whilst i agree with most of your comment i do find it strange that after the christchurch quake motorstorm was only delayed in new zealand (understandably) yet now they are delaying its release in europe after an earthquake in japan, do the (fewer) people who died in the christchurch earthquake really count for less or is there another reason? (like making sure its held back until after the japanese release)

Well its only been put back 1 week according to shopto.net so I think its more about being exactly a week after the quake rather than like Japan and New Zealand where they are more prolonged delays as it would be directly more insensitive to release in either of those at the moment. Perhaps the christchurch quake has been at bit forgotten sadly but I do not think this has anything to do with Motorstorm or Sony more the way the worlds news works always looking for the next story.

Or is the quake in Japan shaping up to be worse than first thought with a possibility of a nuclear meltdown.

that does make more sense, that said whilst i can completely understand a physical reason for a game being delayed (factory damaged etc) and local reasons (quakes etc) it really doesnt make sense to withhold the game in europe (moreso since as said its already available to pirates), i mean if this tragedy had happened to the people of north korea (other than its leaders) do you think homefront would have been delayed in europe?

It comes under the same reason after 9/11 they delayed an Arnie film and the controversy of the 2 towers and spiderman too. I just think its trying to be sensitive to the situation as we all get on with Japan unlike North Korea. Also the adverts on tv would have come across as trying to cash in on a disaster even though most people know it takes a while to create a game. I want the game but do not think at this moment with it all freshly going on that I want to play it as the earthquake effects especially in 3D are a bit to close to the current situation for my taste.

Facts: EU PS3 Blurays are manufactured in Austria - no earthquakes here, no tsunamis, and nuclear power plants are outlawed and illegal to build here.

Other facts: despite what's happening in Japan most countries are going full steam ahead building new nuclear plants (China), or even re-introducing them (Italy)

But Sony is going to save the world by delaying a game and making it more "piracy" proof, right.
The release that is out might not come from a retail disc and it might have screwed their plans.
Let's see when the retail game discs come available if this really was about their conscience or if it rather was about greed and a romantic story to cover it up (ie the retail discs will have a 3.60 minimum requirement).

Fact is the shops already have the physical disc's in their warehouses so whatever firmware is already set on the disc so you still look ignorant to whats going.

You can't talk greed and conscience as you are clearly looking to pirate (steal) otherwise why would you care what firmware is needed to play this title.
